Dear friends and neighbours,

being practical after the typhoon please remember the excellent Shelterbox scheme which is ready for disaster relief with everything a family needs to survive, including in one crate a large tent, bedding, cooking equipment.

see 1-minute video => http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24948428

Here's one page of their on line shop, read more about the work this charity does by following the links.

Here is a link to DEC, the Disasters Emergency Committee, which is an umbrella organisation for many UK charities which collects on behalf of all of them in times of crisis. It represents organisation such as The British Red Cross, Save the Children, Oxfam, to name but a few.

So many families are utterly devastated and it's hard to look at the pictures and the news reports and see so many displaced children. The human loss is great but the survivors need food and shelter and clean water so please give something. It's easy to give on the link above and you can gift-aid it so the charity gets the tax back.

    • I've looked up previous media coverage and gather that the school warned pupils of the risk of police 'fines' for assembly under the extant Covid regulations.  Don't you think they might have felt it a duty, to both pupils and parents, to do so?
    • I'm glad that Barry's have posted.  Their mention of the merger soon led me to (a) bushy-tailed  PR guff about the new member joining the inpost 'family' and promising a bright happy world of lockers etc ahead. and (b) clear signs that the same problems related here seem to have been current and widespread even three months ago.  That's just from looking at one thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/vinted/comments/1nlv3u2/yodelinpost_merger_issues/
    • @first mate not aware of any either. Found this relating to 23-24..  https://services.southwark.gov.uk/southwark-creates/funding/cultural-celebrations-fund?chapter=4
    • Do we still get 50+ outdoor community events per year? All the ones round here seem to have been cancelled, like the Christmas Cracker and the summer equivalent and the Small Business Saturday event etc.  Even on the Southwark Presents page the only events in East Dulwich in the foreseeable future are non-council events organised by other people. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/southwark-presents?event_price=All&localgov_event_locality[0]=239&date_min=&date_max=&search=&page=2
