A3 print designs - where can I get them printed?

Minitoots...

I print at A3 using Epson using Ultra-chrome Pigment Inks.

A3 size Epson matte heavyweight paper cost around 61p per sheet..

To print at A3 the ink alone would cost ?2.00+ per sheet.

50p would seem very optimistic.

Although commercial printers might be able to do more cheaply I do not think they

would do it for that price.

We get black and white A3 posters printed locally to publicise our http://www.thegooseisout.com gigs and although they aren't on heavyweight paper, the ink required would be the same I should think.

Maybe colour would be more, but we use a lot of black ink since the posters were redesigned.

My OH gets them done, I will ask him where and how much, to give you an idea!

OK, he's just texted that he gets A3 posters printed for 16p per sheet in Bellenden Road.

It's the place actually IN Bellenden Road, on the right hand side of the street as you head down towards Peckham (not the printers in a side street down there, who are much more expensive).

Obviously heavier paper/colour would cost more, but sounds like you might meet your 50p target?

Good luck!

Sue .

My printer uses 8 X 13ml ink cartridges @ ?21.00 per unit ?168.00

Depending on the colours of the design one colour is bound to be dominant and required to be changed at ?21.00

a time.

Of course commercial printers use larger cartridges and the ink for them is cheaper.

They are able to keep their printer switched on all day.

I waste ?2-3 worth of ink just purging the jets when I switch my printer on.

That is why I could not print commercially.

Pigment inks are 3-4 times more expensive than Dye inks and when protected with Ultra-Violet Print Guard

picture will last between 75-100 years.

Colour ink is a lot more expensive than B&W ink.

and photo quality paper is 10 times the price of plain paper flyers.

It would seem that the OP was looking for High Quality printing perhaps for a Portfolio.

Foxy

Fox.

I am suggesting a possible local place where she can try.

What you pay for (what seems like extraordinarily expensive) printing on your domestic printer is irrelevant, surely, particularly as you say that you don't know what a commercial printer would charge.

Minitoots, I will see if I can find the phone number of the printer we use, then you can ring them up to save you a wasted journey if they cannot do what you want at a reasonable price.

Sue

Ok, they're called HIM London Ltd, or at least that's what's at the top of their receipts.

They're at 147 Bellenden Road and their phone number is 020 7732 3059.

Suggest you phone and tell them your exact requirements, then they can tell you whether they can do it and if so how much they will charge.

Good luck!

thanks for your messages and Sue, that would be really helpful if you could let me know the phone no. I've called Quickprint who are near Bellenden road but I think you must mean another one near them. they can do one-offs for about ?1.50 but my client knows other designers who get theirs done for 50p - I think they may be companies based out of town who get designs emailed to them, which is fine for me if turnaround time isn't too long..

Minitoots, the phone number is above! I guess we cross-posted!

No it's not Quickprint, they are more expensive.

ETA: Here it is again: 020 7732 3059.

I think they were taken over by a new manager or owner at some point. That is the phone number on a receipt from October this year, but I don't know whether they may just be using up old receipts, but it's the only one I have. But they are definitely still doing printing.

My printer is not a Domestic printer.

It is low end Professional Printer

using Epson UltraChrome Hi-Gloss? Pigment inks

Displaying fine details with Epson Micro Piezo? and Variable-sized Droplet Technologing

The same printer range that the guy at the end of Ulverscroft used to use.

Remember him. His prints unframed sold for ?40.00 - ?60.00

That's what you pay for quality paper and inks.

I know in his case he was also selling a Photo that would be pride of place on any wall

That level may not be required in this case.

Foxy

Hi Foxy, No I don't need that quality. I'm showing digital graphic print designs created in photoshop/illustrator for textile designs and the client wants to see the ideas printed out at 300dpi on Epson matte heavyweight paper only, as this gives the best result. Inks can be epson compatible or epson own inks. Several of my colleagues get theirs printed out at 50 p per sheet but they are based north of London. I'd hope to pay ?1 max.

No- can't find one there -could it be Blenheim grove? looks like there is one there??? these are all the local ones from google maps info- let me know if you think it is one of these, thanks!

No, it is definitely on Bellenden Road itself.

It is on the right hand side going towards Peckham, past the chip shop on the corner.

The only possibility on your list would be Econoprint, which according to your list would be two doors down from the address I have on their (recent) receipts, but as I say they may be using up old receipt forms, as they are handwritten and not from a till.

I will see if my OH has a contact name.

ETA: Did you try phoning the number from the receipts which I posted above?

I'd be interested if you find out / could share where for 50p you can get A3 printed with Epson printer and inks on Epson A3 matt heavyweight paper. If you find somewhere please let us know - with clean inkjets you get a really good quality result which I use for all my printed presentations.

Retail the paper alone costs much more than that and even online it's difficult to come close to 50p per sheet (a quick google provided this - I have never used these people for paper myself though: http://www.monkeyoffice.co.uk/productinfo.aspx?catref=EP41261_google&gclid=CK7A6O2M-LoCFYUSwwod_AQAqQ )

Thanks apples

    • Please rescue. There are plenty of kittens waiting in shelters for a loving home. Try reaching out to https://straycatclub.org.uk/ You can also find an endless list of shelters down below: https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-rescue-centres-uk-ireland You should be vetted to ensure you can provide a suitable environment. Unlike breeders, shelters ensure kittens have been spayed/neutered, microchipped & recieve their vaccination.
    • hellosailor, I feel you on this one. People continue to breathe life into the misconceptions that cats are low-maintenance, natural wanderers or that they can't be prevented from accessing a road - all of which no doubt contributes to these harsh measures. Shelters would do better using their position & platforms to educate rather than applying blanket rules that alienate potential adopters. It does sound like there are inconsistencies in the way Celia Hammond operates. I know of people who have adopted despite not providing a truly suitable environment for their cats. Personally, I was heartbroken to learn that two of the kittens that I had fostered, after being adopted, would later go "missing" on a regular basis. It's a stark reminder that while safety precautions are crucial, overly rigid policies may push well-meaning people toward buying instead of adopting, undermining the very mission of rescue organisations. TWB has taken the initiative to lead by example, teaching clients the importance of mental & physical enrichment, & having policies in place to prevent, for example, the dangers that come with giving cats access to the streets. It has become far too commonplace to see posts regarding cats who have been run over, only for the owners to adopt & repeat the cycle all over again. If shelters could provide insight on why these measures are in place & solutions, these shelters would not only free space within their shelters but educate the public & the overall standards of responsible pet ownership in London. Celia Hammond is a charity most are familiar with, but there are so many others listed within this link; https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-rescue-centres-uk-ireland An up & coming charity that is not found in this link, that deserves an honorable mention is https://straycatclub.org.uk/
    • Looking for a new member of the family.  Will be looking into cat resuce centre's as well before anyone mentions. But my son is in adoration with Kittens and would like to bring one up from a young age. If anyone has any leads, they would be most welcome.
    • I'm not suggesting that the staff are not good people, it's a fantastic charity to work or volunteer for and what they champion and advocate for is super important. It's great that you had a successful adoption through them and really good to hear that you had a positive experience but I was relaying that anecdotally the many people I know who have tried to rescue a cat from them have been turned down. I myself tried to adopt from them a few years ago and they nixed my application when I said I lived on a road which cars go down. They didn't even do a home visit, that was enough to rule us out. Hopefully things have changed since then to allow more animals to find a loving home.
