Stories for Homes is a collection of 63 short stories on the theme of 'home'. From Ayers Rock to Babylon to somewhere out of this world via the edges of our own, the stories in this collection examine the concept of home from every angle. Created by a community of people brought together to create a world class collection of short fiction in all genres, all profits from sales of this book go to the homeless and housing charity, Shelter. The editors, as well as several of the authors, are members of the East Dulwich Writers' Group. The anthology came out as an e-book in July and the paperback has just been published on Amazon. We've already raised over ?600 for Shelter from e-book sales.


We're holding a launch event on Friday 13 Dec at Bookseller Crow in Crystal Palace.

Hmm. Wondering why this has been bumped off the general issues wall. The editors (I'm one of two) are ED residents and several of the contributors are members of local writers' group, EDWG. The launch event is just up the road. Funds raised are for a national charity, but there's definitely a local 'hook' - at least as much as many of the other posts there.

UPDATE: the anthology is selling so well the Amazonian demi-gods have decreed it's entitled to a 9% discount (comes off their cut, not the Shelter royalties). It's currently on sale for ?13.63 but I presume the offer is time-limited. Get in quick!

We're planning a Book Blast tomorrow (Wed) when we flood cyberspace with promotion for the anthology and for Shelter in an attempt to get #storiesforhomes trending. The anthology is currently reduced to ?12.44 on Amazon. At our launch party on Friday, we're planning to hand over a symbolic cheque to Shelter for money raised so far in royalties. It will be well in 4 figures.

      I have had multiple jobs completed at my home by T.D. PLUMBFIX SOLUTIONS LTD, and I wouldn't go to anyone else now. They always come at the agreed day/time, I have never been asked to rearrange. The jobs have always been completed to extremely high standards, and as a perfectionist myself, I appreciate this level of care and detail. I'm grateful of the clear up afterward too, leaving me very little to do after the job is done. I am always blown away by the speed and efficiency  - no waffle, no flannel, just sheer hard work from start to finish. In summary - a highly professional first class service.       Or increase tax.  The freezing of personal allowances is one way, not what I would choose.  On principle I don't care if the rich immigrate.  The main parties could have been more honest before the election.  Reform is deluded.

      I edited my post because I couldn't be sure we were talking about politicians and I couldn't be bothered to read it all back. But it was off the back of a thread discussing labour councillors, so it went without saying really and I should have left it.  What I said was 'There's something very aggressive about language like that - it's not big and it's not clever. Some of the angry energy that comes from the far left is pretty self-defeating.' (In relation to a labour councillor rather immaturely, in my view, wearing a jumper that read 'fuck the Tories').  But I don't recall saying that "violent rhetoric" is exclusively the domain of the left wing. So I do think you're taking a bit of a bit of leap here.
