Random Bus Stop?

Does anyone have any idea what the bus-stop round the corner from the Bishop (Crawthew Grove) is actually for?

Buses don't go down there, to my knowledge never have, and probably never will.

(Mainly due to the usually fantastic parking on the corner a little way up..!)

Maybe the plan the bus-stop planters were reading was upside down...?

Have you never come across phantom buses? You know, when the bus display says '10 mins', then it says '9 mins', then it says '8 mins' and so on...and then the bus never actually shows up.

It was the last stop for buses going only as far as the beginning of Lordship Lane. Once they had unloaded their passengers the bus would drive around the corner and come to a halt at another otherwise "dead" bus stop behind the EDT before starting the journey again in the other direction.

But i still think the bus planning division were wildely optimistic about their chances of getting their busses round that corner without incident... It would be bits of 4x4 bumper for days!

(Also a bus load of people being disgorged right on top of the bins from the Bishop, especially in summer - nice!)

I can't remember ever having seen a bus go down there...

(Mystery almost solved, mild confusion almost cleared up now...!)

At a rough estimate I'd say about ten or 15 years ago.

I think the idea of a Random Bus Stop is an excellent idea. You could carry it with you, put it anywhere you wanted and the buses would have to stop. No more running for the bus with its attendant dangers of heart attacks, sprained ankles and encounters with the Green Worm.

Confusion returning...

The bus stop im banging on about must be less than 10-15 years old.

Looks fairly newish, hence my confusion...

(Unless there's some form of wired time-lapse council thing about re-newing bus-stops that aren't in use anymore? Wouldn't suprise me. Probably a once a year thing to keep their bus-stop budgets topped up?)

one thing that always amuses me at bus stops is watching all the bods standing staring aimlessly in the direction the bus is going to come,as if they will be able to wish their bus to come quicker,meanwhile a constant stream of half empty buses goes in the other direction.me i prefer the casual approach find a comfortable spot and light my magic cigarette,never fails a bus always appears after a couple of drags,of course all my fellow passengers must think i,m a courteous chap as i let them all board before me,little do they know i,m trying to dispose of my b and h in record time rather than waste it.
