Before you do anything get a damp survey and if you do need work doing make sure:

The work is carried out by a Contractor who will fully comply with BS6576 and that they employee a surveyor with CSRT or CTIS CRDS qualifications to carry out the work (and is also a member of the Property Care Association (PCA)).

You would also want the work that is carried out to come with a Guarantee which is insurance backed, able to be transferred to any future owner and that the guarantee covers the workmanship as well as the products used and that the same contractor undertakes the new DPC and the associated re-plastering

This is what we requestred fromn our vendor when we discovered our flat had damp issues that was picked up in our full structural survey (we then had the vendor carry out a damp specific survey to).

All,

If anyone is in need of any damp survey work, or testing, we can certainly help. Dampness investigation services include the following:

1) Dye testing - coloured dye, chemical tracers (strontium, copper, zinc etc), laboratory analysis of water samples, water composition and tracing, UV dye application

2) Hose testing and flood testing on-site

3) Intrusive investigation work, including the use of a videoscope/endoscope

4) Electronic leak detection on flat roofing systems

5) Damp meter surveys, relative humidity surveys, data logging surveys

6) Material sampling and analysis

All with advice from relevant construction experts within our department. We work on all types of properties and are based in Clapham/Victoria. I myself reside in East Dulwich and can provide a non-chargeable visit to properties around the area to inspect any issues.

    • £30-40 for M&S Christmas food for two seems very low! And only £60 for food and drink for 8-10 people?  We have had M&S food at Christmas in the past, and it came to a lot more than that. I suppose it depends exactly what you are buying. We left it late to book a Christmas Day meal out last year, so there weren't many options left.  The Cherry Tree menu looked very nice. That was our first mistake. We also overlooked the fact that it was a Young's pub, with all that implies about the food. That was our second mistake. We don't have shedloads of money. We  took the view that we deserved a nice meal  out after working bloody hard all year. So it was doubly disappointing to basically waste a lot of money which could have been very much better  spent elsewhere.
    • No sweetheart. It is a fantastic sermon which should be shared. It is a rights-based sermon which received a standing ovation - if you can be bothered to get to the end.
    • Welcome back. What have voting intentions got to do with this thread? And much as you may hate the present incarnation of so-called Labour, as do I,  I don't think it is true that they have "not done a single positive thing for working class people", is it? And how exactly are you defining "working class people", anyway?
    • I can’t bear the media “is this racist comment racist” angle taken to reporting it. I feel like she’s a useful out rider for Farage to test how far they can take their rhetoric - it’s not the first time she’s said things that cross over the line. Overt racism is becoming far more commonplace and it’s deeply concerning.
