Hi all,

I am looking for a professional TV screen writer to collaborate on writing a TV pilot. They need to be willing to push boundaries.

The main character is a very strong female working class criminal lawyer and there will be some violence, lots of sex, subtle comedy, drama, law, crime and a bit of grit.

It's not meant to be particularly dark, just realistic and a celebration/examination of one woman's breach of various barriers/social norms whilst working in a very conservative profession.

If anyone thinks this might be something they would be interested in, pls PM me on here.

Thanks

If this happens, think about the "lots of sex". Too many shows (HBO I'm looking at you) have so much sex seemingly just because they can, and it gets to the point you just want to fast forward.

Game of thrones, Rome, The Sopranos, The Wire, Big Love, Mad Men. All guilty.

I'm no prude, but I'd rather be watching a scene that actually contributes to the story in some way..

Have you a production company interested in the concept ? If not forget it, they get hit with hundreds of "I've got the greatest idea ever" scripts per day- "Professional" (they are all freelance) script writers often have hard work getting something off the ground-sorry but that's the truth.

Lol. What makes you think the main character is based in me? I do immigration law.

I've got a friend with a small production company and there are more ways to fund and promote this kind of project than mainstream avenues nowadays. Once a pilot is made, selling it to a mainstream media/production company is going to be much easier.

I also know a lot of aspiring actors who would be willing to do domething like this as a way of getting a possible foot in the door.

I write for a living, but it's all legal arguments so I doubt I'd manage to write a script without any input from someone who has done this successfully before and yes, I'd want a contract drawn up with anyone involved. I will definitely want to protect against plagiarism.

Absolutely it should be included, I'm just saying that a lot of shows these days just seem to get a pair of tits on the screen at every given opportunity.

There's no need for it. It's not like when I was a teen watching films for a glimpse if boob or pube. These days it's not exactly hard to find if you want it.

Agree with RD, sexual undercurrent would be better than every other scene being in the bedroom.

Hmm seems to me this is a tough ask... Working class criminal Lawyer (in London?) Female lead!

Could be really interesting to explore this though but it would be very tough to steer clear of the main cliches and stereotypes - Old boy network, glass ceiling, difficult love life in a fast paced city etc

Difficult to write it without it turning into a much grittier version of Ally McBeal!

That's how Silk started and somebody bought that, so it's clearly not impossible. Not sure if more grit and grumble would help but, as Otta point out, it seems to sell remarkably well. As does anything written in Swedish and filmed in the dark, which suggests one way of sparing Otta's blushes.

Our experience is they don’t seem to care. That’s the frustrating thing for us, if someone politely raises a concern at least take a second to reflect. Treat others how you would want to be treated.  I don’t want them to lose their job, far from it. But considering it could cost me a days work to fix any damage, I’m within my right to try prevent it.

    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
