IT question

I have a dongle that has been working for a month up until yesterday when I inserted it and it brought up a message that said I had to format.

Anybody know how this can be rectified and how I can get my information back?

Forgive my ignorance but I didnt even know there was a difference. I'm guessing it's a USB.

If you have at some time connected your phone or even your camera to your PC using USB.

An AUTO-RUN programme may have been set up in the registry.

If so your USB stick may not be recognised.

You should try the device on another PC to check if OK.

I've only been plugging it into my laptop and nothing else has been connected to it. Ive also tryed it on different PCs and laptops and the same message comes up. I'm lost.

If you type 'usb format message' into Google, quite a lot of info comes up.

Looks a bit complicated but apart from that, can't really help I'm afraid.

This can happen if you do not eject the USB stick before physically removing it from your laptop. Unfortunately if the device is not ejected properly the data can become corrupt and that's what happened in your situation. If you have any important data you've lost the only way to get it back is to perform a data recovery. If no important data was lost and you don't need to get any files back, just format the USB stick and it will work again. If you need to recover your files I'll be happy to help.
