This can happen if you do not eject the USB stick before physically removing it from your laptop. Unfortunately if the device is not ejected properly the data can become corrupt and that's what happened in your situation. If you have any important data you've lost the only way to get it back is to perform a data recovery. If no important data was lost and you don't need to get any files back, just format the USB stick and it will work again. If you need to recover your files I'll be happy to help.
