I love looking at and sharing old photographs of the local area. I've shared some of the stuff online previously on here, however I'm now on the lookout for old shops long since gone. Would be great for people to share their memories. From any era, as long as it's not around now. In particular, lordship lane- the old art shop opposite what was then Gateway (and Gateway itself if anyone has any?), Binsters Toy Shop? (now mon petit chou) Woolworths (now Foxtons) and also rye lane- Marks and Spencer 54-58 rye lane (now Argos and peacocks?) British Home Stores (now Primark) C&A (now McDonalds) and any other small independent quirky tailors which once famously lined the street.

      It’s good we are having this discussion. My point of view is that we are definitely witnessing an attempt at genocide in Palestine, the right wing of the Israeli government have some awful views, some of the language representing the worse of humanity.  Jewishness should not be conflated with Israel or Zionism, I see that has been the case for some of the comments in this thread. Conflating the actions of a Zionist Israeli Government with Jewish people is actually considered antisemitism and is a very dangerous way of thinking, leading to Jewish people in the UK feeling unsafe.    Support peace and march today, I have been many times and met some lovely people.  It’s a long read, but if any of you are interested in how early Israeli settlers from Europe viewed Arab-Jews and the consequences do have a read.  https://www.vox.com/world-politics/24122304/israel-hamas-war-gaza-palestine-arab-jews-mizrahi-solidarity

      Hello everyone! My daughter is planning to apply to Cambridge for Mathematics for the 2026 entry, and as a parent, I want to make sure she has the best possible support during this process. We've been researching different resources and came across several tutoring services that offer help with personal statements, STEP preparation, and interview practice. For example, we found these websites: Company 1 Company 2 Company 2 Has anyone here (students or parents) had experience with tutors or mentors like these for Cambridge Maths applications? Did you find them genuinely helpful for STEP and interviews, or is self-preparation with past papers and school support sufficient? I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences and whether this kind of investment is worthwhile! Many thanks in advance!
