Underfloor Heating

Hi,

I am thinking about installing underfloor heating in the kitchen and living room. Just wondering what is your experience, where you purchased the underfloor heating from and how much did it cost you.

Also, is it worth having water underfloor heating in the bathroom or electric underfloor heating? And what types of flooring should I be using if I have underfloor heating?

Thank you very much for your help!

You generally have under floor heating under a tiled floor.

If the bathroom is on the same floor as the kitchen and living room then it would be quite simple to extend the uf htg to that area however if it is upstairs I would recommend electric.

Also it is worth noting that if you do have any form

Of uf htg in the bathroom then fixing things to the floor is not possible due to potential damage to the htg.

Hope this helps

I'm not a pro but more than one builder has told me that electric u/f heating products are basically all the same, whatever the brand.

We put in u/f heating when had the bathroom refurbed, and bought the kit online, including thermostat and timer/programmer. Also used an online calculator to work out how much additional heating needed and therefore what size of radiator. It's underneath a ceramic tile floor, and works a treat.

    • No. What happened? I actually thought, considering it was what we used to call Guy Fawkes Day last night, the loud noises from  fireworks ended remarkably early. About 9pm? Maybe I just fell asleep and didn't hear any later ones. Do people actually burn Guys any more? Apart from at places like Lewes, where I believe they still have Bonfire Societies and burn effigies of various political figures etc.
    • The accompaniment to our "Christmas Pudding" aka Nothing-Whatever-Like-A- Christmas-Pudding last year  at The Cherry Tree was "brandy butter ice-cream." If it had ever been near any brandy, the brandy must have been waved in its direction from a very great distance. Same with butter. The ice cream tasted like bog standard "vanilla" from a catering tub. At least it did bear some resemblance to ice cream. Whereas the "Christmas Pudding" bore no resemblance whatever to any Christmas Pudding I have ever seen or tasted in my many  decades of seeing and tasting Christmas Puddings. Oh, and Cinzano Bianco. Bleurgh. My sister used to drink that. 🤢
