went to this cafe today and had amazing coffee and the kids did paint spinning with the lovely guy who runs it. I didn't know this place existed and we had such a nice time I thought I would post about it and the kids loved the paint spinning, even my 2 year old did it and thought it was amazing. He also does screen printing parties and sells really great screen printed t shirts, cards and lamp shades - i really loved it so thought i'd spread the word, especially on these rainy days when the kids need so much entertaining its a great, inexpensive thing to do.

Second this. We had a paint spinning and T-shirt printing birthday party here for our 6 year old and his friends (10 in total). They loved it!! Lou who runs it is brilliant with the children and a couple of parents helped with stencils for the screen printing. Definitely recommend this if you're looking for something different and fun. Our spin paintings are framed and up on the wall!

Hi Hpsaucy. Spin painting can be done anytime we're open, which at the moment is Thursday Friday and Saturday.

Screen printing parties are booked in advance and are held after school and weekends. For further information phone the shop on 0208 613 1323.

Lou.

HI there - thanks for the reply. Will be visiting ...

Just wanted to +1 the birthday party with t-shirt printing concept that Lou's got going over at his Captured on the Rye shop. We went there today with 10 kids and had a really great time! The kids loved it and they ended up with some really REALLY nice t-shirts that they had designed all by themselves. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to do something crafty and creative!

    • Tulse Hill and Dulwich Hockey Club are looking to recruit new players into their men's veterans section - https://thehockeyclub.co.uk/ Maybe you played in the past?, Perhaps you stopped in your 30s with the pressure of work and kids. We have 3 sides - 1 x over 40s, and 2  x over 50s For over 40s you can play from age 37, and 47 for the over 50s. It's a very friendly setup - we play our home games around Dulwich and away games throughout London and the surrounding areas, our clubhouse is Dulwich Sports Club on Burbidge Road. It is 'competitive', or as competitive as you can get when you are 40+!!,  so previous experience is really preferred. Its also social - we always have a beer or two post match. Games are pretty much weekly from now until the end of March. Pop me a DM if you fancy finding out more. About the veterans, or any or our mens and womens teams. We'd love to welcome you to this fantastic club.

    • Hi everyone, thanks so much for taking the time to come back on my thread - hearing all your responses has been very helpful.    I’ve tried some of the suggestions you shared about how to improve the connection but they don’t seem to make too much difference so I think we are probably in a dead spot unfortunately. I’ll keep trying though and hopefully it will get a bit better.    Coincidently, I found out yesterday that BT fibre broadband is coming to East Dulwich soon which should much improve the WiFi signal available in the area so I’m planning to switch to that as soon as it arrives. Fingers crossed! If you’re interested to hear how it is, feel free to message me and I can let you know.    Thanks again for all your help!
    • If you want to self cater and do it yourself, why not try one of the rooms in a church..  one I am thinking about has a huge room with kitchen and toilets… parking on site.. and another one worth considering is the church near Dulwich Library , top of Barry Road..  pm if you want more info and of course.. all the pubs on Lordship Lane. if you want further afield, Rosendale Pub has rooms above bar area that you can also hire…  Alleyns Head also good - section off a section of the pub for  your sole use and parking on site.. although, might not work if try want to dance and play there own music. Kingwood House might also be worth considering…
