Have a look at philadelphia - its a great city. Very attractive and great size - plus much more affordable than boston or ny - yet 2 hours from ny and washington dc - similar distance to the beach. Good climate (except summers which are hot and humid). It also has a good international airport - easy to get back to uk. It grts overlooked on the east coast for some reason - but really nice and improving city. On the west coast - portland oregon is supposed to be a great city - and the coast line along that bit of the us is gorgeous -but the time difference is tricky if you are wanting to keep in touch w uk - and its very expensive to fly back.

Oh what a million dollar question...

I have lived in Boston and like the person rom there I would really recommended it for the same reason. I also lived on the East Coast and it really has it all.

I also lived in India but it is not on your list, yet I would personally go back but visas have become a nightmare.

Having just moved to Devon from Camberwell, I can say with a certain degree of certainty that next time I move it will be for warmer climes and will probably go back home to the South of Italy because it is just fantastic - sun, sea, food, inexpensive, good quality of life... But again it is not on your list!

Good luck.

    • Your point?  Why did you buy it, don't you have a mind of your own??
    • Me and my wife went to Holland & Barrett yesterday and bought some protein powder for our 16-year-old grandson who is going to the gym at The Dulwich Leisure Centre regularly with his friends. We chose a different brand for him as his usual was unavailable and noticed that it had 18 on the packaging. When we checked with the two assistants they just asked if he had taken it before and when we said yes, they said that it was OK for him.  Doing some research online today we now know it is not safe for him and can cause kidney damage.  We didn't know about this before as his friends were all taking it too so we thought it was fine. Those assistant mislead us and that's very wrong of Holland & Barrett, they just wanted the sale of £13.50. We will be making a complaint to their head office.
    • It's standard procedure by all accounts.  Airports are very different to routine policing.  Obviously they may reconsider procedures particularly due to the negative publicity. Sadly social media (and streaming) has facilitated fake news, mistruths, toxic behaviour and hate crime. As for banter and irony, I know too well that what I think is a funny comment on this site may be misinterpreted.  Lineham has quite a long history of saying things that many will find offensive.
    • I don't think they were armed specifically  to arrest him. I think airport police are routinely armed? However I agree the rest of it was absolutely ridiculous and completely out of proportion to the supposed "crime". The Met commissioner had it right.
