How to get rid of dog smell from the car?

Hi

We have got ourselves a used car. The car has a very very strong dog smell.

Have tried keeping the windows open and using air fresheners but its not helping.

The smell seems to be deeply entrenched in the seats. Doesn't have seat covers.

Request suggestions on how can we get rid of the smell.

Either diy suggestions or any specific valeting service which can help.

Thank you.

You have a response (not from me) to your post in the "wanted" sectio,n explaining that baking soda will do this, and telling you how to go about it :)

I have used baking soda in the past to get rid of an awful burned smell in my microwave, and I can confirm that it works to absorb bad smells.

    • In the past there has been a spate of thefts like this  around days like Mother's Day. I had all mine stolen once, recently planted up. When I phoned my insurance company, they would only pay out for the window boxes, not the plants and compost, so I didn't bother pursuing it. The police said there had been lots of similar reports. I now chain mine to the window sills.
