Can fridge freezers be repaired?

Or are they worth repairing? Just noticed that the light works but nothing else it seems so it's not lack of electricity. Had it a good few years. Any opinions on this riveting subject?

Yes. Unless something major like the insulation has "gone" (as happened to us). You could give Alex (of Speedy Repairs: 0208 305 8073) a ring. He's very good, and won't rip you off if you decide to use him.

Could be the compressor. Does it make a humming noise?

Alex is great have used him for dishwasher and washing machine, sorted both of them, different occasions I add, extremely reasonable charges and a very pleasant guy.

The compressor isn't making any sound at all. Alex must only listen to his messages once a day though I did phone him early this morning.Haven't heard from him. Found another recommendation from the forum who told me it could be one of three problems. If it's the compressor it's not worth repairing given its age.However it feels like a bit of a gamble as he will charge the same amount for coming to look at it and declaring it dead as he would to repair it (plus parts).
