My daughters 2nd birthday is coming up on the 2nd march and seeing as she got quite a lot of presents for Christmas I am struggling to think of anything to get her for her birthday. She has the usual happyland toys which she plays with occasionally but if anyone has any ideas of good presents for a 2 year old girl, suggestions would be appreciated

We did get Bugglet a cardboard playhouse for her 2nd birthday - was fab as it didn't cost anywhere near as much as many of the playhouses, and could be "decorated" by bugglet as she chose. We did up grade to this one:

For her birthday this year - both pack up easily if not wanting to have them out all the time.

As above really, kitchen stuff (pots, pans etc), baking equipment (play or real so you can do it together), ironing board (no stereotypes here but she loved it!) kettle, tea set, blackboard and chalks, sticker books, playmobil figures and accessories, pop up books, play food, large piece jigsaws, puppets/puppet theatre, dressing up clothes?

I have the same issue for my now 3 yr old, she had a load of stuff for Xmas and we were a bit stumped especially as she is still playing with the same kinda of toys she did over the last year but she gets bored of them easily, erm...a new iron!? We've gone for a vtech digital camera and a CD player, very grown up.

My daughter is a couple of weeks younger than yours and loves tea set, play food, scooter, art stuff, puzzles and duplo we are having the same issues, my mum pays for her mr tumble magazine each month as a present and we ask for money for swimming lessons (water babies) she had a little wooden cake stand with wooden cakes for Xmas, that was a big hit!

maybe just get her clothes etc then or a selection of small treats like stickers, extra bits to go with toys she already has, etc? if you really want her to have a big present you could always put the money aside and get her something midway through the year when you see something you know she would really like.

we realised after xmas that actually what we need is a play kitchen!!!! and have just bitten the bullet and ordered one as i am about to have no. 2 and am hopeful that it will occupy him when i am busy with the baby and all the kitchen-y stuff that comes along with a newborn and then weaning infant.

something we have recently got as a family present is an adult scooter and i have to say that has made a big impact on our outings - my son loves to scoot after his dad on the big scooter so it has made him use his scooter a lot more (and a lot more skilfully). hopefully i will be able to join in once i have my balance back!

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
