Water meters?

I currently let a 1 bedroom flat and my tenant has asked me to switch her over to a water meter as it will save her money in the long run. Does anyone have any feedback on these? is it easy to switch? do these meters take up much space/involve work to be fitted and are they actually worth it?

I applied to get a water meter and after they came for a look around the flat was told that they couldn't install one. However, because I had tried to have one, to save water, they offered to reduce my water rates so may be worth a go!

We've just had a water meter fitted. It took most of the day, but it was all done outside (on the pavement) and they only switched our supply off for a couple of hours, so the whole process was very painless.

But we live in a house - a flat might prove more complicated.

I saved lots when I moved to a water meter while living in a 2 bedroom flat. Well worth it.

It really depends how much water you use. There are 3 of us. We use the dishwasher every day,washing machine at least 3 times a week, wash & have showers everyday,flush the loo, water plants, do cleaning etc I don't think we use excessive amounts of water but we definitely would be worse off on a meter. It might just work for 1 person but even then I don't think they would save very much unless they use very little water.
