The traffic lights have led to a significant rise in the number of vehicles using Scutari Road and then turning down Therapia, Mundania or Marmora roads on their way to Forest Hill Road. There is no traffic calming at the lower end of Scutari Road and drivers frequently drive along this road at well over 30-miles an hour, never mind staying withing the 20-mile speed limit.

And you don't WANT traffic calming on Scutari, do you.

Road bumps are a nightmare specially biker friendly ones as the cars then swerve to have their wheels drive either side of the bump in the middle of the road.

But traffic angering measures often follow excessive and unnecessary use of traffic lights at junctions when cars try to find alternative ways of getting from A to B.

Answer, a well signposted little roundabout with zebra crossings on all four roads supporting it. Little roundabouts at the east side of Rye Lane's roads (Consort, Copeland and Clayton) work fine. Traffic moves, and doesn't have to stop unnecessarily for red lights which in turn builds a traffic jam. Blah blah etc and so on!

Complete waste of time

These lights are bound to cause more accidents as 99% of people get tired of waiting to comply and walk through red lights in any event. The imbecile who thought it would be a good idea to add these lights needs to be shot.

    • tried the traditional beef empanada yesterday and it was amazing honestly, hotter and better than the other place (no offence!). I really don’t see the issue with having more than one of the same type of shop – we’ve got Indian restaurants, two supermarkets, two cheese shops, two pizza joints, even two paint shops! So I don’t get what all the fuss is about. Good food is good food, and there’s room for everyone.
    • I understand you access ancestry from any Southwark library computer. Or see the real post office directories in archive.
    • Hello! We are relocating abroad and so will be withdrawing our two children (ages 4 and 6) from St Dunstan’s College (Catford). If any family is considering enrolling children of a similar age, now would be an excellent opportunity—we’re required to pay full‑term fees unless the places are taken. Please get in touch if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Thank you!
