I've been trying to find ways of meeting local dog owners on a regular basis so my dog Benji can regularly play with the same dogs and I can make friends too. I was having a browse through Facebook groups this evening and was surprised I couldn't find one for dog owners in South London. So, I made one: http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=27876889546&ref=mf

Please have a look and join up if you think it's a good idea.

Hear hear! Nothing annoys me more than seeing people walk off when their dog's done its thing. You'll be pleased to know it's the minority of dog owners who act so badly and the rest of us responsible dog owning folk are just as annoyed as you about it...and yes, we do tell them to pick it up if we're in earshot.
I am surprised at your post as Rosie and I have over the past 3 years met many different dogs and their owners by attending the local parks on an irregular basis. But then we are blessed with the wonderfull local park Warwick gardens which boasts a fantastic collection of dogs and their owners. I know its not East Dulwich but I find Peckham Rye the same.

Hi,

If you walk your dog most mornings on the Rye or Dulwich Park you will, in time, see the same faces and dogs appearing. We all get to know each other eventually and everyone is very friendly. 8.30- 10 am is the prime time. As the days get shorter late afternoon walks tail off. But in summer everyone tips out again for evenings in the park.

You do get the odd rogue dog and owner and, surprise surprise, they tend to be the ones that don't pick up and that you never see again.

    • Sounds good. We used to have the ED Christmas Cracker which was similar and a great community event. Was there once a similar event in summer too?   I walked all the way through the market on Saturday and had no idea there had been an event there until I saw this thread four days later.
    • Good Afternoon, I want to inform you all about the new met police system, Met Engage. This is a new two way  communication system that helps keep the community and the police connected. • You have told us you have reported a group of young people to the police for dangerous behaviour. It is sensible to provide a description. Why would you want to tell us if not so we can be observant and aware of potential danger?
    • I think Little Stars at Bessemer Primary does. It’s a lovely place. Give the school a call and they’ll tell you
