  1. Alleyn's are currently taking down a very old and beautiful evergreen tree, possibly a cedar, because the roots are interfering with the new building (topic of this thread). Would they have got planning permission if they had said the tree had to come down? Such a shame. Nothing wrong with the tree other than it's 'in the way'.
  2. It used to go to all the way to Notting Hill. They reduced that part years ago. Would be a shame for the route to go altogether. Not like there are loads of buses servicing the area already 🙄 Petition signed
  3. It was a party. A one-off. Yes it was disturbing but I?m not going to moan about it. If it was regularly that would be different.
  4. Just to backtrack here. I say ?going up Lordship? The Lane is East St as per Peckhamgatecrasher?s post. Another negative here for Megan?s unfortunately. I tried the one in DV when it opened. Over-priced, small portions, very average food. Disappointing as I love eastern Mediterranean food.
  5. I?ve emailed the local SN team as well as the council.
  6. Out of interest what kind of car is it? We had a black Range Rover turn up in our street around that time that has clearly been dumped. The doors are unlocked and there is a set of number plates on the back seat that don?t match the ones on the car. Also packages on the seats etc. I guess it has false plates on it and has been used for a crime and then dumped. I?ve reported it but the council say ?as it?s taxed we don?t consider it to be abandoned? 🙄. Obv it?s taxed, they are false plates. Anyway if your plates are from a black Range Rover, they?re here 😃
  7. We had a long period where the wind was coming from the north east. That meant the planes coming into Heathrow were not flying over ED. Now the wind has changed to the prevailing South westerly the Heathrow planes are flying over again. Next week winds are forecast to be from the north so we?ll have a quiet period. City planes tend to fly in along the Thames from the east. It?s the Heathrow planes that fly over us generally.
  8. I also had my card cloned there, long time ago now and have used this garage since with no problems (other than price..)
  9. I?ve put a swift box up. It?s prob not in optimum place for swifts but I read that sparrows are attracted to swift boxes too. Either would be great. For those doing loft extensions/house refurbs you can buy swift bricks to create nesting spaces. The decline in swifts I believe is mostly down to lack of nesting places as people convert properties and remove the eave spaces they traditionally nest in.
  10. Yes I?ve seen a greenfinch on greendale too. It was a few years ago but good to know they are still around.
  11. After 20 years of living in my house, I am now seeing sparrows in my back garden. Very happy to see them, I love to hear their chirping.
  12. Spotted a tadpole in my pond today. Bit early I thought? The spawn appeared only a couple of weeks ago
  13. available in the literature they are constantly putting through the door. |doubt they make it up. I just walked up EDG at 6pm, very little traffic and flowing smoothly. It was busier at 5pm when I walked down but that's because of schools and school buses
  14. My water bills halved when I had a meter put in (3 bed house, 4 people, garden) I have a dishwasher and a washing machine. I pay ?30 per month for water now, pre-meter they wanted over ?60 per month. I've had the meter for several years and the monthly payments have never changed.
  15. I've lived here for over 20 years and have regularly seen appalling traffic congestion in that time. Particularly through the village and up and down ED Grove. I walk up and down ED Grove nearly every day and as far as I can see, since the LTNs have been put in the traffic is reduced from previous levels. Immediately after the LTNs traffic was congested but now as people decide not to drive so much it seems to be generally more clear. I think this has been evidenced by the traffic measuring the council has done. I write as a car driver.
  16. flock of redwings have discovered the rowan tree in my garden and are currently stripping it of all the berries. Quite thrilled as they've never visited before and I've had the tree for several years now!
  17. Don?t suppose anyone picked one up thinking it had been placed outside for taking? Moving son out of house and it has disappeared. Only thing I can think that happened 😬 Would be amazing if I get it back. Have had it for over 30 years 😢
  18. I first heard the Dulwich Village bank/Ivy rumour about 3 years ago, I mean I know we've had a pandemic but something should have happened by now surely?
  19. Nope, I have a long list of things I'm waiting for going back to November
  20. Petrol tanker filling up in Grove Vale now. Esso EDR has fuel as well. 5 minute Queue
  21. No Way should Court/Village open, it's so much better for the schools and pedestrians now. With roads it is a case of open them/build them and they'll fill with cars, close them and cars go away. simple. Once the drivers who do short unnecessary journeys realise it's not worth it, the surrounding roads will be clear for the people who do need to use their cars.
  22. Romeo Jones does the best coffee in the village IMO, really don't understand the queuing for 25 mins to get one from Gail's. I've just looked at the menu for Megan's, it actually looks ok if a little pricey (although a 250ml glass of wine for a fiver in happy hour isn't bad), depends on the food quality for me. I was quite excited when the Greek place opened but went twice and never again...
