  1. Calton Avenue is another spot for Taxi dumping. One there now with a smashed window and another was removed recently, had been there for months, also smashed window.
  2. Hey Silly really sorry to hear that. H was beaten up badly in a random attack last year (in Brighton) and despite the police and CCTV of the attackers nothing happened... hope this guy is caught.
  3. Hey Sue, I'm off ED Grove quite close to Greendale. I'm seeing the long-tail tits more often then I used to. They are so cute! I have seen a greenfinch down Greendale but they don't venture over the road. We are lucky to have so many birds in this area. My cat got a goldfinch the other day, he's in the doghouse...
  4. I've seen a blackcap in my garden recently, only the once. I get long-tailed tits, blue tits, great tits, goldfinches, robins, wrens, parakeets, blackbirds regularly, dunnocks and even a goldcrest occasionally. Never a sparrow though.
  5. I don't have too much of an issue with parking fee, discourage people from driving etc. However, the eyesore of the signposts is what bothers me. A black signpost every 2-3 metres along the grass verge on both sides is a little bit overkill, and presumably the meters are yet to be installed so that will be more furniture clogging the park. There is a real problem with excessive street furniture and I wish it could be addressed.
  6. Sorry to hear another local shop is closing. My favourite bread round here is from the butchers in the village - Proud Sow. The bread comes from a bakery in Brockley (Coopers maybe) and at ?3 for a large loaf of 'overnight white' is pretty good value and is delicious. I don't eat meat and only go in there for the bread :-)
  7. It's not to do with the Junior school expansion. They are installing a Multi-Use Games Area next to the sport's hall. Interesting that we have had zero notification of this planning application, no signs up on the lampposts etc. Work will take 3 months.
  8. But Trident creates a lot of jobs in Scotland and I'm not sure how they would replace them so don't think it's really a viable option for her to remove. I grew up in Scotland and a lot of my friends and family are still there, most of them are Yes voters but I don't understand how they can reconcile voting to leave the UK yet also want to stay in the EU. As far as I see it, all the arguments for staying in the EU can be extrapolated to staying in the UK and most of the Yes voters are voting with their hearts instead of their heads.
  9. Bolt is an alternative service to Uber. Works the same way and is very cheap (who's losing out there..) Bolt cars and drivers don't seem as well turned out as the Uber drivers although I've only used the service once. A neighbour of mine is an Uber driver and I feel for him and his family with this uncertainty.
  10. Err, these roads are fine. No better or worse than most. The area of Glengarry mentioned is the part that junctions ED Grove. there are a Pizza GoGo and a newsagents that attract groups of kids that may make some nervous types feel intimidated. I've been living here for 17 years, walk up and down them regularly and never had any trouble. Parking problems due to Alleyns is am issue but CPZ coming in the near future will alleviate this (at a price).
  11. Maybe we should get a group together and do a 'die-in' on the street at school pick up time. Anyone in? Get the local press down, get the kids involved.
  12. I posted a picture on instagram the other day of the chaos on Townley, including a coach parked on the double yellows near the zebra crossing. I tagged Alleyn's school in the post and Southwark Council. Alleyn's responded to say 'they had spoken to the driver in question'. I don't believe they did. A coach was parked on those double yellows today and now it's cold they have their engines running. It will take someone being hit by a car before anything is done.
  13. Ken's portion of fish and chips easily feeds 2 people.
  14. I've seen several posts on here where people have put pictures up. For example the woman with the 2 white staffie dogs that were attacking other dogs, teenagers misbehaving in the street, security cam pictures of people at doors. None of these have caused such a debate as this one and I wonder why that is? Is it just because the 'perpetrator' has come on (rather shoutily) to decry the behaviour. I personally think it is a little dubious to post pictures of people on a public forum without their consent but I don't think it's illegal. I also think that people who leave their dog's poo on the street should be called out on it.
  15. We're talking about pollution and traffic levels - it's not a debate about private v state education. That's for another thread. By the school's own admission on the impact statements over 40% of junior pupils and staff drive to the school. Much higher than for the local state schools (on less than 10%) You cannot deny that the foundation school traffic causes a huge problem in the area.
  16. Includes car keys. Please get in touch if you think they are yours.
  17. I would have thought a brace of pheasants would be easy pickings for the foxes. Especially if traversing along the railways.
