  1. I agree with Sue, unless they are particularly plants that require vast amounts of water (not many) they should be quite happy if kept in a cool place and given a good soak before you go.
  2. CD Wallet found today (5th)on Dovercourt Rd. Please PM with a selection of the CD contents if you think it?s yours. Thanks
  3. Charm bracelet found today (5th) in Dulwich Park. Please PM with a description if you think it might be yours. Thanks
  4. This year seems a particularly good year for the fungus. Lots of weird and wonderful types around. Haven't spotted any magic ones yet ;-)
  5. I will be marching on Saturday
  6. Lots of frogs around my garden. I am now careful raking up the leaves as I have once raked one to death and I still feel bad about it. They like to plot under piles of damp leaves.
  7. We can watch what happens in Canada now, legal for recreational use from today.
  8. OMG, I'm agreeing with DulwichFox! I used to work in a kitchen and the NOS canisters were a fun way to pass the time occasionally despite the resulting headache :-)
  9. We used to be able to travel directly to Luton from Herne Hill and since the timetable changes, now have to change at Blackfriars also there are fewer trains running North on that line. All for our convenience apparently...
  10. Ed-pete?s suggestion of emailing the bursar and the council cleansing dept. probably the best option
  11. I live here. Alleyn?s do this fairly regularly. Agreed that it is not on. (Almost) literally passing the buck. Edited to add a full stop...
  12. Terrapins live in the pond by Dulwich college too - take it there
  13. I'm near Trossachs and haven't seen a bat for years. Lucky you, I'd love to see them.
  14. Corked wine is wine that has been tainted by a chemical in the cork, apparently smells like a damp cloth or damp cardboard or similar mouldy dampness. quite distinctive and not something I've ever come across. I too have ended up with cork in my wine from corkscrew fails but fish out the bits and carry on drinking.
  15. two legumes posting LOL I've been going to the one up LL which is now a medivet. Is that the one you want to move from?
  16. "A few friends of mine and myself conducted a little unofficial study on being ignored by staff in a local wine shop/ eatery that has now changed hands three times. The time taken to be acknowledged seemed to be related to gender and age in the main...there were other factors. There was also a marked difference to attitudes to retuning wine that we said was ?off? or ?corked?, not part of the study, but three of us used the place to buy wine and we all had returned a bad bottle." I've been drinking wine for many, many years and don't think I've ever come across a corked bottle...
  17. If they are at the Village end of Woodwarde I think being in the bowl of the (slight) hills around the village protect from the noise. I used to live in Aysgarth road in the village and didn't notice the planes, I now live less than a mile away but up the hill and am really bothered by them. Pellat is also on a bit of a hill isn't it?
  18. Horrible scenario, clearly some young, unhappy people with no moral compass. Hope they get their comeuppance and the OP isn't too disturbed. For the record I think Rendel is right to call out Toffee's comment.
  19. children's toys and washing hanging? Sounds like most ED gardens.
  20. Love the 'holier than thou' parenting comments...
  21. I think the most laughable is the implication that staff in french shops and restaurants are generally superior. I cannot count the many remarkably rude and unhelpful exchanges I have had in French establishments, and not just Paris.
  22. Well, the council will sort it out - at our expense. I reported this fly-tipping and mentioned I have a photo of the contact details. Name, address, phone number all clearly visible on the box :-) I really hope the council follow up and fine the woman responsible.

    Garden birds

We have a few crows resident too, I was watching a pair picking up the stale bread and soaking it in my neighbour's bird bath to soften it. I have a soft spot for the crows despite the racket at 5am

    Garden birds

goldfinches love black niger seeds, have lots visiting my feeder. Have had blue tits nesting in the bird box every year for last 4 or 5 years, I might have to take the box down for a couple of years as I now have 2 young cats that I suspect got hold of a good proportion of the fledglings this year,it's very difficult being a bird lover and a cat lover... I have a very loud wren resident, and a few robins. Very occasionally I have long-tailed tits pass through, they are so pretty I wish they were more frequent visitors. I've seen dunnocks in my garden a few times. I have seen gold crests in the garden too, so tiny! Parakeets, wood pigeons and magpies usually in evidence. My neighbour keeps threatening to catch a parakeet and keep it. I think he's winding me up tho.
  25. Actually, there is a session at St Faith's on Red Post Hill on 25th June. I'm booked in.
