Yes. I know another member Flower was trying to raise interest but there was little response when I checked with her. The council have apparently put aside ?1000 for tree planting and are interested in created wild flower/meadow planted areas, but I am unsure when this will happen. If you want to PM me, we can maybe arrange a visit and discuss what could be done?

The figure is actually ?2000, and the grant is for further planting and maintaining trees up there to create a mini arboretum, and recreate the orchard which used to be there.

The plan is to restrict the trees to natives, of which there are already many, so if anyone has views on how to further this project, which is being done in collaboration with Southwark Parks Dept, get in touch, and maybe we could get together over a pint (or two!).

By the way Dimples, there is already a quince, and there used to be a mulberry, and a crabapple, both of which were vandalised. Unfortunately a certain amount of ill will and ignorance towards plants seems to exist in some people. Not alot we can do about that.

Any updates on this? I walked by today and there are large areas fenced off and ready for planting / possibly planted up already. The orchard hasn't been touched though. It'a cow parsley heaven at the moment. I also noticed a spectacular oak on Donkey Lane. Most likely an old boundary tree.

I had thought I was writing of my own experiences in Underhill Road but obviously I don't know my own streets. When the men I watch tip rubbish into their lorries they do not seem to spill out into the road, but obviously my eyes aren't good enough to see this.
    • It was around New Year 2023; I had walked my dog past the exact spot late that evening before it happened. There were a lot of cars in Straker's Road that night playing loud music. "Roadmen" Alice. We all know who they are but you are daring, through the use of public shaming and ostracism, people to declare something you already know. Tut tut Alice, white boys also affect a Roadman persona. There was a statistic I read on a council advert at a bus stop in Lambeth, it said "99% of young people in Lambeth have never been in trouble with the police". We all know 99% of the 1% are Roadmen so lets not pretend any further.
