Back up/photo uploads

Am I missing a trick, or does an Instagram image stop you uploading during an iphone back up

Also is there an app or place to store all my images, other than the painfully slow drop box

May not be exactly what you want, but Flickr gives you a terabyte of storage for free, you can upload your photos there, set them to private if you want, and you have a 1tb photo back up in this fancy 'cloud' everyone seems obsessed with.

google+ auto backs up phone photos too if you so wish.

You can save photos on Snapfish, too.

I don't think you actually have to buy anything from them.

Not sure how the amount of free storage compares to Flickr, though.

Or you could store them all on one or more external hard drives or memory sticks? Depends whether you trust they will be safe online in the future, I suppose.

I am a huge Flickr fan though pay for professional useage so have over 1200 photos on there but even without the subscription highly recommend it.

i used to, but can't see anything compelling about the paid service now you can access all your photos again.

How much space would I need for 8,775 images

Would google+ store that?

I'm not aware of any limits on google+ I've several thousand images there.

phones probably average around 2-4 mb per picture, so what's that 20ish gb? Not alot in this day and age.

Oh quick warning some sites (including flcikr, i don't know about google+ but it probably does) compress photos when you upload them, so if it's full resolution backup storage you want I'd just do a bit more research if i were you.

If you just want somewhere you can access your photos when with friends and family rather than to print a 10' x 6' canvas then you'll be fine.
