Did anyone else go to the polling station today to be told you only get to vote in the local elections, not the European. Any idea why this is the case?

Not been yet but my polling card definitely mentions both.

Presumably you're saying that this happened to you? If so, what reason did they give?

yes this happened to me and they didn't give a reason. I didnt think to question it until I left...

If I cant figure out why by the end of the day I may nip back in and ask.

It depends on your nationality. If you look on your Poll Card on the back it says:

If you are a European Union citizen you will receive a yellow Local Government ballot paper, however you will only receive a white European Parliamentary ballot paper if you have completed a separate application to vote at this election.

Yes, same thing for my friend who has French nationality but lives in London. She is voting in the local elections but will also vote in the French European election.
