I want to get rid of some ugly woodchip paper on my ceiling. I hear there is a possibility it might contain asbestos. Has anyone encountered this problem? What did you do?

I hear you can skim over woodchip but my ceiling is sagging after a major leak so ideally I wanted the whole ceiling removed...

Any help much appreciated.

Are you thinking of that weird swirly plastering stuff on ceilings instead of woodchip. Can't remember what it is called. I had heard that could contain asbestos, but never woodchip. Woodchip is just wallpaper invented to cover uneven walls. It literally has tiny chips of wood in it. It was in every room of my first flat and I managed to steam off most of it eventually.

    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
