Hi BSL,

I'm looking to expand the fitness teambuilding into those with partial or zero hearing - we meet on the Rye on Sat at 10am by the caf?.

My basic skills of communication needs improving, so I'm looking for an individual or group of members to help me with this quest.

Somewhat different to the average person on the street, I focus on high level without detail, other than the specific area of practice. "please, thanks, how are you, I'm good etc.." is good, but I have no idea of the following?:

* Jog on the spot

* Raise your right / left arm, leg

* breathe in and out slowly

Imagine you are doing dips on a bench, "feet shoulder width apart, lower your body slowly, then raise slowly".

Imagine asking you to turn to the right or left, and so on.

** What do you get out of this? **

I have provided FREE fitness & team building to the London / ED community for 7-years, no grants or income. Wouldn't this be great to involve the deaf or partially deaf community into this and share sign language. I have a habit of getting the groups to count in German, French, Auzzie, English and Bulgarian to name a few, lets do some sign too!!

McCabe

Hi McCabe,

I am not a BSL signer, nor do I know loads of BSL. However, in the absence of knowing the BSL signs, you could always use fingerspelling with the BSL alphabet!

Try this

If this is about inclusion, then I am absolutely sure that a BSL signer in your sessions would be delighted to show you the specific signs. Otherwise, fingerspelling for hearing folks should be ok :)

    • When I had a property with a basement there would often be a pool of water in the centre. I was told it was related to the fluctuating height of the water table in the area (se22) and would not become a problem and the only way to get rid of it would be to get the whole place completely tanked.
    • We've got a Victorian coal hole cellar with a mud floor and after a couple of severe water leaks, I've taken more of an interest in the state of the dampness.  I've been running a dehumidifier for the past couple of weeks following a small water pipe leak and whilst most of the floor is now bone dry, there are damp patches along most of the wall adjoining the next house, a large damp patch in the middle of the floor that will not dry even with the dehumidifier right next to it and a patch of wet mud in a small hollow in the middle of the cellar.  An expert that lent us industrial drying equipment following a flood from a burst mains pipe said there will always be damp, but I'm a bit concerned in case there is a fundamental problem - any ideas from anyone with similar?
