I'm looking for an oven/food thermometer and would like to know if there are any recommendations out there. I'd like

- digital

- alarm when the food gets to the right temp

- food settings would be nice

- oven temp as well food temp would be good as well

- wireless would be a bit of a bonus, but I'm guessing out of my price range

Having said all that, I'd like to spend less than ?50.

Anyone got one?

Hmmm know nothing about fancy pants digital or wireless ones but I can recommend a good old fashioned meat thermometer that you stick in before putting it in the oven.

Can't link to pic at mo but it looks like a giant drawing pin with a colour coded dial on the top. Think I bought it in Farmers on LL for about 6 quid. Couldn't live without it now (slight exaggeration but best gadget buy since my 2 quid wooden lemon reamer)

Oooo are you baking me a bday cake loz? :))

what type of food are you really interested in monitoring? Meat? Cakes? Bread? Not that I have a clue about such things!

I'd like to follow my neighbours way of knowing when food is ready - when the smoke alarm goes off - but I think that may be a little on the over done side ;-)

After years of 'nagging' by myself and our daughters, we may have cured hubby of spending £4 plus on individual cards for our immediate family  ( when you have 12 immediate family it costs a bomb) Also as the girls state, they get put in the recycling bad at beginning of January regardless of cost.
