GP Recommendation??

Hi All,

I have recently moved to ED and loving it! I really need to register with a doctor asap. I have read various reviews but some aren't that recent. Can anyone recommend a practice within a 10 min walk of the heart of ED where you can get a same day appointment without too much drama and there's continuity with the doctors? In my last GP surgery i never saw the same doctor twice, it was a constant stream of locums who really didnt seem to care too much!

Any help much appreciated.

Abby

I'm also fairly new to the area and have been happy with 306 Medical Centre on Lordship Lane. It's not that easy to get an appointment quickly but they will do emergency ones depending on the problem (I've had to frequent the surgery all too often in the last 6 months because of my toddler). I also once got a call from the doctor before 9am, having called up at 8 and explained the problem to the manager who answered the phone. There are only two doctors, so you will get the continuity you want, and the receptionist is refreshingly considerate and helpful!

Ive actually had excellent service at Dulwich Medical Centre on Crystal Palace Road. I'm aware that there appeara to be a lot of issues surrounding the practice and I admit that booking an intial appointment to be seen can be an issue but once I was seen, I have seen the same doc everytime, who has been excellent and I have been able to utilise the in house pharmacist and telephone apointments. I even received a call when my repeat prescription was being filled to see if i needed the other medication I had forgotten about - which was unexpected but I thought showed a nice attention to detail and patient care.

They have a psychiatric nurse who runs evening clinics too and they seem to have an excellent relationship with the Lloyds Pharmacy on North Cross Road who are open 7 days a week and evenings. My prescriptions now get sent to the pharmacy and seem to be filled ready for collection almost immediatly.

I have been registered with the Gardens Surgery just off Peckham Rye Park for years. Jane Cliffe is the senior doctor there and literally saved my son's life when he was 8 by correctly diagnosing appendicitis that had untypical symptoms that another doctor might well have discounted. all the doctors there seem ok and the receptionists are lovely.

    • Maybe Angelina did see them, however how many people and drivers didn't?  Just takes one to cause life changing for both.  Wouldn't it be more sensible if cyclists realised lights and reflective gear is not just to help them see but to potentially save their lives by making them visible to all.
    • I agree with this, I'm afraid.  I see it every day within the industry - a lot of it is to do with the fact that the people working in it are younger now and don't realise how much they're being subconsciously indoctrinated by certain forces (social media and group-think), so they're now pathologically incapable of objectivity. Also, they don't read books, pick up the phone to experts, or generally know how to research properly.  On a lot of documentaries I've worked on, I've been leant on hard to peddle narratives that are not only heavily biased, but often outright inaccurate, and I've fought back where I can. It's really depressing,  I'd like to think that, at the BBC, I'd be immune from these influences, and allowed to project a 360 view, but it's sadly  not the case. You'd also be surprised at how toothless the BBC can be when presented with something that's irrefutable but could, say, upset Murdoch or the DM...  Hands up, I'm guilty of platforming extreme right-wingers, misogynists, anti-abortionists, racists, anarchists, pro gun lobbyists, rape-apologists... you name it, I'm all for putting them in a programme. Even though I deplore what they stand for, it's important to me to have a counter-view, and they almost always hang themselves.  (Job done.)  It's funny that certain people are up in arms about Rockets posting 'misinformation' in the Traffic threads, but  seem OK with it in broadcast, as long as it aligns with their views. You have to ask yourselves, what is it that you really want? If it's an echo chamber then just watch Fox News or CNN, however you lean. But then what's the point of it all? I fear the ship's sailed, so I don't know why I bother.
    • That’s right, we could see them passing us at the stops and then as we overtook them. There was one moped without lights doing about 30mph.    Stupid is one word, but when it puts pedestrians at risk, it’s a different word. We’ll be raising it and hopefully get some publicity about road safety awareness
