GP Recommendation??

Hi All,

I have recently moved to ED and loving it! I really need to register with a doctor asap. I have read various reviews but some aren't that recent. Can anyone recommend a practice within a 10 min walk of the heart of ED where you can get a same day appointment without too much drama and there's continuity with the doctors? In my last GP surgery i never saw the same doctor twice, it was a constant stream of locums who really didnt seem to care too much!

Any help much appreciated.

Abby

I'm also fairly new to the area and have been happy with 306 Medical Centre on Lordship Lane. It's not that easy to get an appointment quickly but they will do emergency ones depending on the problem (I've had to frequent the surgery all too often in the last 6 months because of my toddler). I also once got a call from the doctor before 9am, having called up at 8 and explained the problem to the manager who answered the phone. There are only two doctors, so you will get the continuity you want, and the receptionist is refreshingly considerate and helpful!

Ive actually had excellent service at Dulwich Medical Centre on Crystal Palace Road. I'm aware that there appeara to be a lot of issues surrounding the practice and I admit that booking an intial appointment to be seen can be an issue but once I was seen, I have seen the same doc everytime, who has been excellent and I have been able to utilise the in house pharmacist and telephone apointments. I even received a call when my repeat prescription was being filled to see if i needed the other medication I had forgotten about - which was unexpected but I thought showed a nice attention to detail and patient care.

They have a psychiatric nurse who runs evening clinics too and they seem to have an excellent relationship with the Lloyds Pharmacy on North Cross Road who are open 7 days a week and evenings. My prescriptions now get sent to the pharmacy and seem to be filled ready for collection almost immediatly.

I have been registered with the Gardens Surgery just off Peckham Rye Park for years. Jane Cliffe is the senior doctor there and literally saved my son's life when he was 8 by correctly diagnosing appendicitis that had untypical symptoms that another doctor might well have discounted. all the doctors there seem ok and the receptionists are lovely.

Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
