e.swift
Hello, In the summer, I am going on an expedition to Tanzania and we will be helping to complete the construction of a preschool. Currently, the village has very little in the way of writing and drawing equipment. Both the younger and older children would get a lot of joy from simple equipment. However, we cannot take ink or felt tip pens, as they tend to dry up or leak in the heat. Please do have a look around for anything that may no longer be used. Everyone has that box of ancient disused pencils at the back of a cupboard! I am very happy to collect and sharpen them, so do let me know if you have anything at all! Many Thanks, Emily Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/45632-pencils-and-crayons-for-nurseries-in-tanzania-jewellery/ Share on other sites
numbers
aw how lovely, I hope you get lots of donations.I remember all the children in rural villages would ask for pencils too. So many simple things we take for granted here. Loz
Emily,If you want to set up a Just Giving page or similar, I'd be happy to send a fiver or so your way to buy some. I worked with a small education charity in Vietnam last year, so I know what a massive difference these sorts of places make. e.swift
Thank you all for your support.Loz - Thank you for the suggestion. I think we are really looking to take second hand stationary, as our cash fundraising is being spent on more expensive things such as building materials and paint. Mariababe - It would be lovely to be able to take books, but unfortunately I don't think our baggage allowance will allow for it. Please do PM me if you would like me to pick up any pencils you do have. Many thanks. I have copied this post to the family room, thanks.Emily Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/45632-pencils-and-crayons-for-nurseries-in-tanzania-jewellery/#findComment-756019 Share on other sites

e.swift
Thank you very much for all your donations! I now have more than enough pencils. I am happy to collect any that have already been offered, however we may not be able to take them all. I am currently looking for another good cause which might be able to make use of them. On the other hand, we are also looking to take some costume jewellery, so if anybody has any old bits around, please let me know. Thanks again!Emily Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/45632-pencils-and-crayons-for-nurseries-in-tanzania-jewellery/#findComment-757269 Share on other sites
