Exciting theatre in SE23

Recommended Posts

I know it's not East Dulwich, but it is just around the corner?

July 6 & 7, 10 & 11.

Knock out one man monologue delivered from the bar, in the pub! ? (what more could you ask for?)

The sydenham arts festival has some pretty serious stuff going on - this one gets my vote - this actress Amelia Lowdell lives in my street and is now directing ? she's just finished a show at the Bush that had 5 star reviews from every national newspaper.

Just in case you were interested in this, I have some more information:

This is the full Press release on this show. I may have undersold it previously.

"A brain-numbing day job. A long regret-filled night out with the office crowd. A late night London epiphany. This brilliant site specific monologue will take you on a journey across London exploring the lies we tell ourselves and each other, and fallout when the truth is revealed"

Amelia Lowdell is directing ?Honest?, as part of the Sydenham Arts festival in South London.

Amelia Lowdell has been an actor for over 15 years. Her Stage debut was at the Royal Court in the play 'Yard Gal? by Rebecca Pritchard, listed this year as one of the V&As top 100 pieces of British theatre of all time.

Most recently Amelia starred in Nick Payne?s Incognito at the Bush theatre, winning universal acclaim. (5 stars from every paper from the Guardian to the Metro!)

Honest is written by DC Moore, and is a 40 minute monologue set and presented in a pub.

DC Moore is a South London resident British Playright and was nominated for the 2010 Olivier Awards in the Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre category. He has had shows put on at the National Theatre and the Royal Court.

The extremely talented Richard Kidd is starring in the lead role.

See you there hopefully!

PS. Strong language - recommended for over Grown Ups only!

Honest.

** Very limited space - only 30 seats per show **

All tickets ?8 can be bought online at:

http://sydenhamartsfestival.co.uk/2014/at-a-glance/

or on the door if space available.

I have tickets and am looking forward to it.

However, I have to admit that the choice of venue is, as far as I am concerned, an added attraction - the All Inn One/Foresters Arms' owner managers and their staff place great emphasis on customer service. First rate food, competitively priced wide range of drinks and always a warm welcome.

    • It was indeed in the vicinity of DKH. I live on the ED estate and I could tell it must be close by because of the noise. When I left my house this morning I found the culprits litter still in the middle of the st. It looked like they had lit a whole box on fire in the middle of the road. My cat jumped out of her skin. I’ll try and report it on Southwark website same as I have had to with other illegal use this week. Any other ideas for what we can do with the photos? Maybe one of the Southwark councillors. It’s outrageous and dangerous behaviour.
    • Had another great meal there…. those that haven’t tried it, give it a go.. have a special lunch menu as well so you can get a flavour of the food.
    • If you "cotton on" and read the council announcement, it clearly states "The library will be closed from 17 November until late June or early July 2026."  https://www.southwark.gov.uk/2025/dulwich-library-closing-refurbishment
    • I’ve been seeing Lisa at goose green clinic for energy work for a year now.  Lisa is kind, caring and hugely supportive. She is wonderfully masterful and trained as a reiki master for 20 plus years. Alongside other energy work.  My time spent with her is like therapy. An emotional safe space for deep conversations and reflection followed by relaxing and energising healing work.  each experience I’ve had has been different, the end result remains the same. Feel lighter, almost euphoric and almost float home. Definitely an experience not to be missed.  https://www.goosegreenclinic.net/therapies/healing-energy-work/
