Hi has anyone had any luck finding childcare just for school drop off and pick up. What I would like would be for someone to drop off and pick up children from their school and bring back to my house. I get home at 5pm so would only be an hour and a half to 2 hours after school. Is an au pair the only way to go? Be interested to know! Thanks
Hi - we do breakfast club in the mornings and have a lovely "after school nanny" who collects the children, brings them back to ours (or to clubs), gives them supper and stays until 6.30 when I get back from work. She's not a "career" nanny (i.e. no full time nanny experience) but is warm, kind and reliable. She's perfect for us. We found her on here. If you want cover from 8.00ish, breakfast clubs are pretty good. It works for me as I drop the children off on the way to the station. We advertised on here too for after school nannies and got a few applications from nice sixth formers. A few friends have au pairs and that has generally worked out pretty well - especially if you want help getting the chidlren ready in the morning and walking them to school. Also useful if you could do with a couple of nights of babysitting and some help with kids' washing, loading/unloading the dishwasher etc. If you go down the au pair route, you can interview over Skype, which apparently is a good way to get to "know" the au pair.
A lot of my friends use breakfast and after school clubs for their wrap around childcare. Also have a few who use childminders - many of the lovely childminders I see at playgroups do morning and afternoon school runs. It means they aren't at your house though, so not an option if you're set on having the children taken to your own home.

    • I echo the previous recommendation of Aria. I have used his services on several occasions now and I am always impressed by 1) the speed of his response,  2) his honest pricing,  3) the quality of his interventions.  I had a washing machine crisis the other day where my old appliance started leaking badly and into the flat below.  Aria can within an hour of my call and sorted the whole thing immediately.  Impressive! Highly recommended!
    • Helen Hayes has represented Dulwich and West Norwood since the boundary change in 2024. The OP said Helen had already contacted Capita on their behalf, so I'm guessing she is their MP, otherwise she would have directed them to the appropriate person (unless she was particularly keen to take on extra work!)
    • Hi there. I need to move and it doesn't feel very eco friendly to buy boxes - if anyone has any I could reuse?  Happy to return once I've moved if you want to keep them! I'm moving Feb 26th so I'd be looking for some to use before then. Thank you! Kate
