Carpenter Recomended

Recommended Posts

We used Reece to construct and fit 2 wardrobes in our Victorian house along with reinstating the original staircase with spindles, newel post etc.

we would highly recommend him, on top of his excellent craftsmanship he is also very clean, tidy and punctual!

We used Reece - he was a bit haphazard in his organisation once he'd provided the quote but he did the work and we were pretty pleased, particularly in light of the price as compared to others we'd been quoted by. But since then we asked him to help us with 2 other jobs on separate occasions and to repair something in the original job: he was initially helpful then would just go AWOL/not reply for days and days, then reply and we'd set up a time then he wouldn't show, then a few days later apologise, i'd reply and he wouldn't reply again. A shame as seems like a nice guy and perhaps he had his reasons but can only speak from our experience which was that he is unreliable and does not treat his clients well.

    • My mum (91 years young!) well remembers going to Austin's as a child, which she described as an 'Aladdin's Cave'!  She absolutely loved it - and is still a shopping fiend to this day (I 'blame' Austin's 😉). Going back up Peckham Rye, passing Austin's on your right hand-side, just past Phillips Walk (so not far from Austin's at all), I believe there was a British Relay Wireless shop - this would have been in the late 1930s/early 1940s.  Does anyone know anything about this? My grandad (my mum's dad) used to manage it; it was severely damaged in The Blitz - but I am having trouble locating it.  Mum's memory is dim (she was 6 at the time); she originally thought it was in Rye Lane, but we think now it was in Peckham Rye just up from Phillips Walk (originally Phillips Road).
    • Thanks everyone, this will need to be reported again as the fox was still mobile and walking down the road when last seen... hopefully someone will spot and report.
