Kimferrari
We are moving to the area from San Francisco, California and are looking for a doctor for our 1 year old son. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46438-doctor-for-1-year-old/ Share on other sites

Kimferrari
We are looking for a paediatrician. We left the US prior to 1 year birthday, so he needs his 12 month vaccinations. buggie
Those would all be available at any GP surgery you registered with as a free service.GP's are the first line for family healthcare & am pretty sure most health insurance assumes you have a GP & would be using them for immunisations (assuming you'd be happy to follow UK schedule). etta166
The UK and US vaccination schedules are very similar. Our 3rd child had her vaccinations split between both countries because of family travel plans. And to the OP, over in the UK you don't necessarily see a paediatrician as a first port of call. The family GP sees everyone including children. However, some GPs will have a special interest in paediatrics. You can ask around at local surgeries. Kimferrari
Thank you for the responses. Sounds like the system is a little different from the US and we will find a local GP once we get settled. buggie
It's a v different system over here - thought it was widely known how different they were!Think this gets to the crux of it pretty succinctly:http://www.buzzfeed.com/lukelewis/if-breaking-bad-had-been-set-in-the-uk?s=mobile Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46438-doctor-for-1-year-old/#findComment-762084 Share on other sites
