TONIGHT - THE CASTLE COMEDY CLUB - DULWICH

Recommended Posts

Dulwich's finest alternative comedy night at the Castle, Crystal Palace Road is here every month a familiar roster of amazing modern comedy acts.

Our next show is headlined by the incredible

Kevin Shepherd

Kevin moved from his native town of Bognor Regis with a burning ambition to become a successful stand up comic.

Once he had conquered his initial fears Kevin quickly became a regular at many clubs. He also got through to The Laughing Horse new act of the Year Final 2002 and came second in the Krater New act of the Year 2002 at the Komedia in Brighton. In 2006 he did his first and very well received Edinburgh show Kevin Shepherd: Comics Die in Hot Cars.

His friendly face and manic energy are proving successful with all types of audience. He is equally at home performing a set or compering. Clubs that he has played at include The Banana Cabaret, The Frog and Bucket, The Comedy Club Ltd, The Comedy Caf?, Jongluers and Highlight.

In 2009 he was asked to performed support slots for if.comeddies nominees, Mickey Flanagan and Ivan Brackenbury on their national tours.

This year Kevin as well as performing his own Edinburgh show Kevin Shepherd: Caronicle he has helped direct, write and edit Tom Binns? 2011 show ?Ian D Montford ? Spirit Comedium?. He has also tried he hand at acting, recently body doubling for Ralph Fiennes as Voldermort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

As well as performing live stand up he has been a regular co-host on The Grid a motorsports show on Sports Tonight Live, has a regular Formula One Podcast (Another F1 Podcast) with fellow Comic Terry Saunders and has written for BBC television (CBBC F1 Red Button coverage) and Radio 2 (Hot Gossip with Claudia Winkleman). Most recently after three years of writing, directing and editing Edinburgh shows with Tom Binns, Kevin has worked with Radio 2 and Tom on his new radio series ?Ian D Montford is Unbelievable?.

In short he has travelled the length and breadth of the country and even travelled as far a field as Bahrain. However his love of performing means that his mission to entertain the world has only just begun.

?Kevin Shepherd is a charismatic young man with a sharp wit and cheeky humour the audience was taunted, with varying degrees of force. But only the faint-hearted or excessively squeamish failed to warm to such an amiable battering, and, after all, audience involvement is what stand-up is all about.? Bahrain Extra. Bahrain.

?He then gave way to Kevin Shepherd, who packed the next 20 or so minutes with as many jokes as some comedians manage in an hour. He switched between anecdotal and punchline based humour with ease, and left us eager for more.? BBC Lincolnshire.

?Very Funny, Did a tough gig in Torquay the other night and was a pleasure mainly due to this mans professional compering skills. Warm, friendly and fun to watch. I'd say in the next couple of years he'll be Mc'ing the big venues and you won't be able to afford him, so book him now.?Jason Manford. Channel 4.

?Assured stage presence, deadpan delivery and good gags.? Last Laugh. Sheffield.

?Kevin's friendly face and light touch comedy was a hit with the Knutters. He got hold of the audience and held them to the end, they really listened and laughed.? King Knut's Club. Peterborough.

?A charming young chap with cheek, humour, wit and a smooth delivery that would do any midwife proud. Lots of life, lots of gags and quite a few kids to his name.? Jester Laugh Comedy Club. Bournemouth.

?Shepherd made good use of a diverse crowd to deliver some superb lines.? ents24.com

MC Jessica Fostekew

Jess hit the stand up circuit in early 2008 like a thunderbolt of joy!

"Intensely Funny...Fireball of Fun" - Timeout

"This show will be another boon to her career" - The Independent

"I would recommend not waiting long to see her" - Edinburgh Festivals

"Really all about the jokes, and she doesn?t embark on a path unless there?s a funny at the end

of it, and ideally a few smaller ones along the way too. She also has a winning delivery,

adept at misdirection, and speaks with the confident cadence that instinctively matches the

rhythm of a joke... stand-up you might expect from a much more experienced performer? - Steve

Bennett, Chortle

    • Nothing to do with the tories overspending whatsoever eh! Blame the last 10/11 years of blatant mismanagement, incompetence and willful deceit on the poor bastards that were left with the fall out of a complete car crash tory government.   One PM after another falling on their sword. Open corruption and piss taking throughout covid and a legacy of huge debt and destruction yet in your view it will be labour's 4 years in power that bankrupts us in 2029.  Another one that must think people are blind and stupid.  Rejoice rejoice. It's a pity he and his fellow clowns were completely annihilated at the ballot box. I mean they were doing so well after all 🙃🙃
    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
