Are you serious Buggie? Mince pies? The place is stiff with them.

Neck as many as you want, and then dance yourself daft on the sugar rush.

It's Mud. It's 'Tiger Feet'. It's me and you on the dance floor. It's neat, it's neat, it's neat...etc.

First time here? Mistletoe? Here's a large Christmas smacker on the top of the head. X. And one for luck, X.

And what's that the Dj's spinning? It's Mud! Me! You! Dancefloor!!!

#And then she walked in looking like Dyna-Mite...#

I love seeing people who don't venture into pubs and bars during the year, dipping their toe in the water during the Christmas period.

I take pride in helping them when they can't decide what drink they might want, there's such a choice nowadays, isn't there? Almost too much some might say, but we won't 'go there'.

So when a group of strangers comes to 'your' pub, think in the spirit of the season and the innkeeper who offered Mary and Joseph a night in the barn.

Think about him and improve on his offer, give them the 'stable' environment of your local and send them away with your hosannas ringing in their ears.

And if Terry has Mud's Greatest Hits behind the bar, then so much the better.

Never mind snowballs you need to try my Christmas Cocktail - a pint of Guiness with a shot of Tia Maria. Mmmmm it's beery AND chocolatey. Now THAT'S a meal in a glass. Goes to show, you can take the girl out of Hackney but you can't take Hackney out of the girl.

Thanks RonnieMama, that one's going on the Mitzvah menu.

So who's having what? Oh to flip with it, RM's Christmas Cocktail, and Snowball chasers all round.

What's this now? Chris Rea's 'Driving Home For Christmas' Nice.

Time for a bit sit down and get us breath back after our exerting worselves with The Wombles.

#Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,

And folks dressed up like Eskimos...#

I think it?s ?Inuit? now, but it?d be lovely to get dressed up in our big parkas and mufflers and go door to door singing carols. We could raise money for charity. I?ll bring the big thermos of hot chocolate.

#Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,

Help to make the season bright.

Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,

Will find it hard to sleep tonight?#

Christmas is for the children isn?t it? I think at this special time of year we should all make the effort to return in spirit to that more innocent time in our lives, when we rushed excitedly to bed on Christmas Eve with visions of sugar plums dancing in out heads. I?m there now, join me.

#They know that Santa's on his way;

He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.

And every mother's child is going to spy,

To see if reindeer really know how to fly?#

Can you remember trying to stay awake and catching Santa delivering your presents?

I never managed it though, how about you?

#And so I'm offering this simple phrase,

To kids from one to ninety-two?#

My favourite line, it?s so simple yet so beautifully inclusive, isn?t it?

It conjures up images of the young learning from the wisdom of their elders of birth and renewal and the passing of time.

Has anyone got a tissue, I seem to have run out.

    • I would like to understand this promise by the Greens in greater detail and how it applies locally? Presumably road/pavement upkeep and renewal is as important for cyclists and pedestrians as motorists? I am not aware of plans to build new roads locally but there has been plenty of money spent on converting roads into pedestrian only areas. On the face of it this feels a slightly empty statement, when applied at local level. I'd love to know the Greens stance in hiring out parks for private use (given impact on park environment), I'd also like to understand their stance on fireworks- I will look to see if I can find anything. I don't know if a manifesto exists under the documents section of Southwark Greens, but you can only access that bit by signing in- which is disappointing. If anyone has a manifesto that reflects local priorities- could they post a link?
