ed_pete
One of my Heuchera's is having its leaves munched by something. Unlikely to be slugs (slug pellets abound). Can't see any caterpillers. Possibly the dreaded vine weevil ? If anyone knows the most likely cause and the best solution it'd be much appreciated. MrBen
Good thread.Your first pic - what's that plant in the background with the biggish tear drop shaped green leaves? Reason I ask is that I have exactly same problem but with that one. It's potted and I put copper strips around the pot rim, organic slug pellets in the soli, no sign of snails or caterpillars. And its getting munched every night. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46992-gardeners-question-time/#findComment-766213 Share on other sites
mancity68
To stop slugs crawling up pots the copper strips need to be a couple of inches or more wide as slugs can curve over them.Rough sandpaper is also pretty good to wrap around. They hate that. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46992-gardeners-question-time/#findComment-766227 Share on other sites
ed_pete
That's a Hosta. Absolutely loved by slugs and snails. I've tried all the tricks for these: copper rings, grit, coffee grounds, egg shells, beer traps. Slug pellets are still the best though, IMO. mancity68
Also, copper pan scourers - un scrunched and put around base of plants. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46992-gardeners-question-time/#findComment-766238 Share on other sites
