Brockwell Park is great. There's a temporary beach at The Conservatoire in Blackheath - not been yet, meaning to, but looks good on their website. Or same at The Roundhouse in Camden - get the train or overground from Peckham. We went to Margate last summer v early on a Sunday morning which took less than an hour as the roads were clear at that time, ditto Broadstairs.
Dymchurch is great. Hour and a bit with a clear run. Massive expanse of sandy beach (check tide times). Feels like stepping back in time and a tiny fairground that is really for under eights and works out really cheap per ride. There's also the small steam train that runs down to Dungeness. A really full day out.

What about the queen Elizabeth olympic park in stratford....we had so much fun there last week...http://queenelizabetholympicpark.co.uk/the-park/attractions/parklands

Sand & water plus a lovely cafe.

Failing that we have a sandpit at our adventure playground lol....come along & play!

if you want real beach and sand Margate is one of the best and the town is much improved. The Dreamland amusement park is sadly closed but is being renovated and will open as a heritage /vintage ride venue. Nearby Broadstairs is also very nice and the Harbour beach is lovely.

    • Another recommendation for Niko. Great communication, top guy, and super reliable and skilled - all at a fair price. Takes a lot of care in what he does and talks you through everything.
    • Some foxes are very tame. The foxes that live near the electricity sub-station thing on the corner of Calton and Woodwarde will happily walk up to you/passed you. They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
