Hello Nicky,

Our plan is to have training between 2-3pm on a Saturday afternoon for all teams, however this is not set in stone and this might change next season. Matches will be on a Sunday. The times of these matches will vary from week to week as the Kick Off times are not determined by us. If you have any other questions please do contact me.

Many Thanks

Chris

The training sessions will last between 75-90 mins. So that will be 2-3.15/3.30. We cannot confirm the exact timing though, as these will depend on pitch availability. If you have any other questions please do ask.

Thanks

Chris

Hello there,

Both my husband and son are a little hesitant about signing up for this new club, when our son has never taken part in any football club or classes before, but is probably keen to play as a goalkeeper. What would happen if he chose to wait until September to see the training in action, before deciding to commit to joining the club? Are you very close to having sufficient players signed up now, and to close the registrations for new ones? Also, is this 'new' club a great opportunity for a 'new' player like our son, in terms of getting to play in matches - our son's friends have been training with Dulwich Hamlet club for over a year now and are only just starting to be asked to play in matches.

Many thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Regards,

Nicky.

Hi Nicky,

Our registration deadline is the end of next week, this is so we have enough time to complete all the neccasary paperwork to ensure all the players are eligible to play competitively in the coming season. Unlike many other clubs, all our players will get to play in competitive games against other clubs in a league next season. I believe it is a great opportunity for newcomers to the sport to have a go and enjoy themselves, we are a new club playing in the SELKENT C division so there will be chances for players of all abilities to have a go. Unfortionately in September it will be to late to register your Son, if you wanted to register your son it would have to be done at the start of next week.

If you have any other questions please do contact me.

Many Thanks

Chris

Hi Nicky,

You are correct, SELKENT rules do allow for players to be signed up after Sep 1st and we do have to have a minimum number of players signed up by that date to avoid a ?5 fine. However in order to sign a player up, we need to have their registration documents approved by a registration administrator, these are Selkent officials who sign off on our players to make them eligible to play. We have been advised to hand deliver and collect the registration documents from the administrator to eliminate the risk of them being lost in the post. This hand delivery and collection takes a lot of time for a club volunteer to travel their and back twice. As such, the clubs policy is to have all our players signed up by Sep 1st where possible to avoid the additional trips that one of us will have to make at the clubs expense. If you have any other questions or queries, please contact me.

Kind Regards

Chris

Hello Chris,

Thanks for the additional advice, etc. We've been thinking about it and can see that it is a great opportunity, but perhaps our son just isn't quite up for the commitment of a proper football club just yet. I think he first needs to show us by going along to some classes or groups that he is really interested and therefore committed to getting himself off to football training every Saturday afternoon, and Sunday for matches from time to time.

Kind regards,

Nicky

    • Hello East Dulwich families 👋 I wanted to introduce myself to the community. I’m a professional family & wedding photographer with 14+ years of experience, and I split my time between the US and London throughout the year. I’ll be based in London for the coming weeks and would love to photograph more local families here in East Dulwich. My approach is very relaxed and natural — no stiff posing, no pressure — just real connection, movement, and the beautiful everyday moments that tell your family’s story. I work especially well with kids and parents who feel “awkward” in front of the camera (which honestly is most of us!). Sessions can take place at home, in the park, on your favourite street, or anywhere that feels meaningful to you. The goal is to create images that feel like your life — not a photoshoot. If anyone has been thinking about documenting this season with their children, I’d love to connect, answer questions, or simply share examples of my work. No pressure at all — just happy to be here and meet some neighbours. You can see my work here: https://bluesparkphotography.com/family/ (use the contact page on the site to send me a message if you're interested!).
    • I don't! But I've also taken to calling myself David, as it seems to shorten the odds of achieving something in life. It's not King Dave, Dave Lloyd George, Dave Hockney, Dave Bowie or Dave Hasselhoff is it? And I'm not sure Michelangelo would have had such success if he'd called his sculpture 'Dave'.
