internet & TV issues

Hi Folks,

Cross post from Family discussion.

Not sure if this is exactly right place, but looking for some advice on buying TV and internet services.

We want to turn our spare room into a teenage boy friendly study, with a large wall mounted TV that they can play games on via PC. And we would like to be able to use it in the evenings, to stream movies from Netflix.

At the moment, we have a talk talk contract which has been ok, until our son bought a "game player" of a PC and it is as though it have used up all the WIFI capability in the house. So, I am wondering if we need one of those fancy BT boxes you see advertised on TV?

Now what do we do next? is there someone we can contact who can put all of this together for us, or do I go to Currys, and buy the TV, then find a contractor to fit it on the wall, then find a new internet service provider and then panic when nothing works?

Any advice gratefully received.

John

Break down your requirements into component parts, Internet TV will facilitate your streaming. Wi-Fi is problematical, Better to use your house's electric wiring to bring the net to the room you want. Do you have fibre optical wiring in your street? If so sign up for that as you'll have access to faster broadband. As for hanging a bracket to a wall....come on man...Easy Job for yourself!!

    • It’s even worse this weekend, the bass is unbearable.    The fact SE22 is getting upset about something in an entirely different Borough probably suggests how bloody loud it is that we can still hear it from here!? It must be awful for those living right next to it as I feel stressed enough from half an hour away. I don’t see any benefit to the local community, it blocks off our green spaces, makes it deeply unpleasant to be at home every weekend, and most attending will be from outside of the area. I also wonder if these events are the reason there are so many dead fish currently bobbing around the lake in brockwell park? Pretty miserable for the local wildlife too.
