The most important bit of advice here - bring a woolie. Last year the sun blazed through the day, but as it set, the temperature plummeted. Outdoor final act The Hit Men UK should be through by 8.00, so it will be worth bringing something to cover up and keep warm before retiring to the bar for live Jazz Funk from Changing Motion, and Miller Anderson & the Prisonaires end of Festival set.

A huge thank you Brian from our group who had the best Aquarius ever by a long way (and the last two years were fabulous as well). But right from when we got their late from Bruised unplugged right through to the amazing Miller and his band it was fun, fun, fun and great music for every moment of the day. So many highlights but particularly remember Country Dirt and their great new singer, Louis and his new band,Nou Enle, Hit men UK,6 Foot 3 and Steves Bolton's amazing guitar work and the hushed reverence that greeted Jack Joseph allowing us to hear their beautiful fragile sound and lyrics.

The festival couldn't have been better (except by being longer or over 2 days) and you have put in an enormous amount of work to pull this off. Can't wait for next year....and have a load of good video including a lot of spirited dancing that I will spin into a crowd filled tribute to the day.

We are all still chattering away as to how good it was.....

Amazing - simply Amazing !!

Miller and the band are playing tonight / late afternoon at the hob - kast chance to see them for a while, from 5:00 pm - probably kick off a bit later than that though - that's sunday 31st aug at 5:00 pm
A huge THANK YOU to all who came. Thank you to Mr Ed for the splendid main stage. To Bushells who once again donated so kindly to pay for the outdoor stage and sound. To Rob Orr and Ben for running the outdoor sound so impeccably. To Southwark Council for their continued financial support for this amazing local event. Thank you to each and every artist and performer - the musical ability on display at this years festival was awesome from the first notes played by Felix and Baz on the outdoor stage and the astonishing Jessica Matthews jazz quartet on the indoor stage, through to the incredible Miller Anderson finishing in the bar. Thanks to all of the hard working bar staffc, who soldiered through the day's trade and helped to keep spirits high. To all of the volunteers at the cub that helped out preparing the course, and manning some of the stalls. Thank you to the amazing kitchen serving food that was just delicious, and to the BBQ stand that helped to keep the crowds well fed. Highlights for me were quite simply every band performing throughout the day. Also, the Decorators Kite Display team - what a brilliant aerial event that was throughout the afternoon!!!Jack Joseph and his support guitarist Joe Reeves were simply amazing, and are definitely on my short list for future stardom in the music business. But everyone that performed did a great job. Country Dirt and new lead vocalist Charlie made a huge impact, and even the jazz licks of the late band Changing Motion got the hall full and screaming for more. It was a blast!!! I hope everyone that reads this will tell a few select friends about Aquarius Festival, and bring them along next year to enjoy the biggest little festival in SE London.

As Brian says was the best ever and a great time was had by all who ventured up to the mountain. Many thanks to Brian who brings this wonderful festival off every year and to all the multi-talented artists who give it their all.

My video tribute to them all....

    • For a while there was an unexpected glitch in planning laws that meant phone box operators (which is obviously mostly BT, but there were others) didn't need council permission to replace call boxes with small electronic billboards, so long as you could make calls from the billboard. I *think* the one on the corner of Croxted Rd and Park Hall Rd is an example of that. So the operators weren't always in a rush to remove the call boxes even when they didn't make any money on calls. I don't know if it still works like this. https://www.local.gov.uk/about/news/lga-call-crackdown-trojan-telephone-boxes-amid-900-cent-rise-some-areas
    • It is just a witch hunt. The estate agent has taken responsibility. FFS leave the poor woman alone. ETA: And please  stop calling her Rachel. You don't call Starmer Keir.
    • As said, why are you not eating humble pie for a non-story? I expect that scores of landlords are unaware or made mistakes in this territory.  And this is not just the Chancellor but a married couple.  It feels like you and others are taking joy in demonising her. The only question would be is the house suitable for renting out?  I expect it is, and if not that is up to Southwark to take action rather than keyboard warriors.  The only surprises are the expense of licensing - surely time for a thread on "is licensing a money maker for local authorities?".  I'm being facetious.  And that the cost of rental, which feels fairly reasonable based on this area. By all means go after rogue landlords.  Be my guest.  I was horrified to see some of the properties rented in London and beyond by family members.  Not all bad. Oh and another question.  Haven't I got better things to do than comment on this 'no story here' thread?  😁
