  1. I?ve noticed this too, on the area around Peckham Rye Park. We?ve had an unprecedented number of the shiny green flies, which are partial to our dog?s poo, but also to nothing food based. Perhaps it?s a consequence of all the open air spaces increase in human poo. There?s a human turd lurking behind almost every Bush in Peckham Rye Park. The dog owners pick their dogs ?gifts? up. Why not the humans?
  2. Steve32 can you get a tee shirt printed with Steve 32 on it so we dog owners will see you from a distance and avoid any contact with you? Just to remove the opportunit for more social insanity.
  3. It was sad to see the institution that was Curry Cabin go. My family were frequent customers there from the day we moved to East Dulwich in 1988. Hopefully Saucy Chips can add something new to the Lordship Lane eating experience that can build similar levels of loyalty that the Curry Cabin enjoyed. Very best of luck!
  4. On BT TV Sports channel. A great selection of live NFL and College games, as well as live baseball and basketball. Not much British sport on BT Sport, but if you like NASCAR, IndyCar, NFL, CFB, NLB etc., you could get a BT Vision account and invite your buddies around for the big games?
  5. Hi Mrs TP. There most definitely are owls in and around Peckham Rye Park. At least one pair of little owls, and tawny owls too. Now is a great time to get a sighting as the evenings are closing in.
  6. The other side of this story is equally unsettling. A woman walking her cocker spaniel off the lead near to the Skate Park had to pull her dog away from a man who was making an enormous fuss about being bothered by her dog, which had barked at him. She took the dog away on a lead. The man followed her, taking pictures on his mobile phone, then appeared to head through the wooded area to cut her off on her route down the path. She was understandably frightened. She felt like she was now being stalked by a complete stranger. So she rang her partner, and headed back towards the cafe. Her partner confronted the man, and the following chase ensued. Have to say, if anyone threatened my wife with that kind of creepy behaviour, I would have done exactly the same.
  7. Sorry Kiera you?re absolutely correct. I assume this means they can limit entry points to the Friern Road entrance, to manage security, and add convenience for bus stop access. Be very interested to see how they get on.
  8. As far as numbers are concerned, we used to get around 800+ adults on the golf course on a good festival day, and the place looked deserted. The Festival stage was about 100 metres from the entry gate, on the 1st fairway. Sadly Thames Water shut the event down permanently a couple of years ago, but we were well supported by Southwark Council and local business sponsorship. If this event has this many planned attendees, there will have to be a force of Marshalls plus security, plus first aid, plus suitably secure containment/fencing. I reckon the 11.00 close down will be way too late for local residents - especially if the main performance base is DJ, not live bands. At Aquarius Fest the outdoor stage closed at 9.00, then continued indoors with amazing live jazz and rock until past 11.00. All day live music, all inclusive, and all for just ?3 per adult. Great times.
  9. Looking at the plans, this is on the Rye, not in the park, so something a bit bigger and better managed than the old Irish Festival. I ran the little Aquarius Festival for 8 years, which was never hugely supported by the local community. But something with a few bucks behind it may make for an entertaining day or two out. Best of luck. But it looks like the Rye will be totally closed off for 5 or 6 days. Not sure is that will be so popular...
  10. There is an absolute responsibility for dog owners to pick up their dog poo. I know all of my mates who walk their dogs in Peckham Rye Park every day respect the rules in the park, and I would always pick up my dog?s poo if he ever did poo on the pavement. We get the odd poo or two on Scutari Road from owners heading to the park, which I find as upsetting and negligent as all of the voices on this thread. My normal approach to this is to pick up/bag the poo for the sake of other local folks, which is also,a habit I have if I find a dog poo in the park I wander across. I?m sure most dog owners are hugely focused on their dogs output and that the increase in volume is centred around the parts of ED that are not so close to parks. Not defending the owners, because you can?t blame the dogs. If your dog drops it, you have to pick it up.
