  1. I?ve noticed this too, on the area around Peckham Rye Park. We?ve had an unprecedented number of the shiny green flies, which are partial to our dog?s poo, but also to nothing food based. Perhaps it?s a consequence of all the open air spaces increase in human poo. There?s a human turd lurking behind almost every Bush in Peckham Rye Park. The dog owners pick their dogs ?gifts? up. Why not the humans?
  2. On BT TV Sports channel. A great selection of live NFL and College games, as well as live baseball and basketball. Not much British sport on BT Sport, but if you like NASCAR, IndyCar, NFL, CFB, NLB etc., you could get a BT Vision account and invite your buddies around for the big games?
  3. Hi Mrs TP. There most definitely are owls in and around Peckham Rye Park. At least one pair of little owls, and tawny owls too. Now is a great time to get a sighting as the evenings are closing in.
  4. Sorry Kiera you?re absolutely correct. I assume this means they can limit entry points to the Friern Road entrance, to manage security, and add convenience for bus stop access. Be very interested to see how they get on.
  5. As far as numbers are concerned, we used to get around 800+ adults on the golf course on a good festival day, and the place looked deserted. The Festival stage was about 100 metres from the entry gate, on the 1st fairway. Sadly Thames Water shut the event down permanently a couple of years ago, but we were well supported by Southwark Council and local business sponsorship. If this event has this many planned attendees, there will have to be a force of Marshalls plus security, plus first aid, plus suitably secure containment/fencing. I reckon the 11.00 close down will be way too late for local residents - especially if the main performance base is DJ, not live bands. At Aquarius Fest the outdoor stage closed at 9.00, then continued indoors with amazing live jazz and rock until past 11.00. All day live music, all inclusive, and all for just ?3 per adult. Great times.
  6. Looking at the plans, this is on the Rye, not in the park, so something a bit bigger and better managed than the old Irish Festival. I ran the little Aquarius Festival for 8 years, which was never hugely supported by the local community. But something with a few bucks behind it may make for an entertaining day or two out. Best of luck. But it looks like the Rye will be totally closed off for 5 or 6 days. Not sure is that will be so popular...
  7. There is an absolute responsibility for dog owners to pick up their dog poo. I know all of my mates who walk their dogs in Peckham Rye Park every day respect the rules in the park, and I would always pick up my dog?s poo if he ever did poo on the pavement. We get the odd poo or two on Scutari Road from owners heading to the park, which I find as upsetting and negligent as all of the voices on this thread. My normal approach to this is to pick up/bag the poo for the sake of other local folks, which is also,a habit I have if I find a dog poo in the park I wander across. I?m sure most dog owners are hugely focused on their dogs output and that the increase in volume is centred around the parts of ED that are not so close to parks. Not defending the owners, because you can?t blame the dogs. If your dog drops it, you have to pick it up.
  8. Almost there! It's a fabulous line up already. Just confirming the final acts - should have something to display after the weekend!!
  9. just bouncing this up again. Cut off date for music lovers who want free entry into the Festival is July 30th. Boards will be going up from the beginning of August.
  10. Main post and 'instructions' in Lounge area. If you join in, you get free entry for 2 to the Festival. More to come in the Events/What's on.
  11. Festival is on August 30th - it's always the last Saturday of August. The line up is still in development, but we do have some amazing acts on the main stage this year, including 6foot3, The Hit Men, LVJ and the Indi Souls, and also Miss-Led, a Led Zep tribute band with astonishing female vocalist. Also appearing again to close the show is the incredible parlour band, Miller Anderson and the Prisonaires. Ther will soon be a post on the events page that will clarify all of that, and give more details about the Festival - kids activities etc.
  12. Hi ED Forum folks! This is the second year that Bushells have very kindly sponsored our fabulous festival at Aquarius Golf Club. This year they have been even more generous, as they were so pleased with their involvement last year. As a way of repaying their kindness, we are looking for volunteers to have a Bushells sign outside their home from August 1st, which would contain a panel providing details of this year's festival. By providing this simple, non-intrusive service, as supporters of the festival, you will receive a voucher that will get 2 people into the Festival free of charge. Children are free anyway, so I'm hoping we might get a few good people to help us promote the festival locally. This year's music line up is pprobably the best yet, with a few returning bands and a whole bunch of new stuff. If you would like to volunteer, please just PM me with your e-mail address, and also the location/address where the sign can be erected. Please post a little 'I'm in' message on this thread, to keep the thread at the top of the Lounge forum. Many thanks! Brian Thanks!!!
  13. You were supposed to send the address by PM Sarah!!! Perhaps you should delete this one now i have made a note of your address. If you send me an e-mail address (also by Private Message!!!) I'll send you a pdf file to print and display. Many thanks for that!!!! Brian

  15. Don't know if anyone noticed, but this thread was started in 2008.
  16. Sorry about that. Not everyone out there keeps their Word up to date. I'll make a point of saving in more formats in future. Festival poster to come soon!!!! dbboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Am unable to open the .docx file, can you add it > as either a .doc or PDF file. thanks.
  17. Perhaps he'll come and paint some of the bollards at Aquarius Golf Club on Festival Day - August 31st. 20 great bands on 3 stages, with plenty of fun for families.
  18. Can everyone who wants to show their support please PM me with the address details? A few have said 'I'm in' but not contacted me by PM. The more, the merrier, and the cut off date for producing the boards is nearly on us!!! Cheers! Brian
  19. Last chance for entries! The response has been just wonderful! Anyone out there that wants to show their support for the biggest little music festival here in SE22, please step up now!!
  20. Thanks for the 3rd party support KK!
  21. As a local park user I don't really have a problem with the removal of many of the trees that were sentenced to death by this recent 'cull'. Many of them are very old, leaning in what appears to be dangerous ways, and I would have to say that, if they were in my own garden, I would probably get shot of them. I'm pretty certain, following the massive plantation that came with the Peckham Rye Park Lottery Funding a decade or so ago, and the more recent planting of many young trees around the park, that the idea of 'sustainability' is most likely the one that dominates here among the decision makers. Always sad to see old trees being removed, but at the end of the day, they simply make way for the younger crop.
  22. I'd like to see the response to this in the hundreds by the end of July, so come on East Dulwich! Show the forum how much you love live music!!!
