Matt Hason and his team refurbished our bathroom, which included a rip out, re-plumbing, tiling, underfloor heating installation and fitting a new bathroom suit. They were reliable, considerate, clean and tidy and the work was really good. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Matthew Hanson's team recently refurbished our bathroom and tiled our kitchen. The team were really clean and tidy, talked through what we wanted and did a really good finish. We were really impressed. They are coming back soon to do some more decorating.

We would definitely use them again.

don?t normally leave recommendations but we have been so pleased with our builder, Matthew Hanson & Co. They installed a downstairs toilet for us which we love - all fixed and finished to a very high standard. Prices reasonable and very considerate in our busy house with small children. Pavel was excellent - always tidy, punctual and great attention to detail. He also fixed a number of issues we had around the house as a result of poor workmanship of previous builder (including leaks in family bathroom) and a number of decorating jobs (fitting fireplaces/ door knobs). We have previously used Matthew Hanson for our loft conversion last year and were equally impressed.

Hi everyone,

Another recommendation for Hanson & Co. Matthew and the team are professional, reasonably priced, cut no corners and only use the best materials, completed on time, communicative, transparent, knowledgeable and really considerate of our neighbours - who were really complementary of them!

I honestly couldn't fault them in any way. Bonus for me was the use of a live Googlesheet to track the works and the pricing and pose questions!

Having gone through major renovations before, never without issue, I couldn't believe how straight forward working with them was.

They completed a big job, including structural work, plumbing and electrics, and their work was faultless.

I have recommended them to everyone I know.

And another recommendation for their amazing work over the past couple of months. They were clear, so nice to work with and I dont know how they kept everything so tidy.

I was living in my house while they helped with a full renovation and they made things as easy as they could have been.

I really valued how they were so structured with their communication with two wattsapp groups and payment / costs was all carefully tracked and super transparent.

Highly highly recommend - they are people you can trust!

They completely structural work, moving rooms, plumbing, electrics, plastering, all very high quality

Hanson & Company completed a ground and first floor extension project for me, which included a new bathroom, kitchen and utility room as well as redoing my garden (new fencing and paving).

Throughout the project, which took circa nine months in total, Andras and Matt did a good job of keeping me informed re. costs and timings and talking me through different options etc.  The onsite team were considerate and tidy - a pleasure to have around (which I understand is not always the case with builders!).  The quality of the work has been great, with snags being dealt with promptly and without question.

With all of this in mind, I have no hesitation in recommending Hanson & Co.

    • Thanks  for the reminder nellie. Have today received two letters dated February 2024. Heading down to Highshore Road tomorrow to see if there's anything for us. I'm getting obsessive about missing/late arriving bills since having our phone and broadband cut off when we hadn't received (so hadn't paid) a bill from BT that had been posted to us. I now keep a note in my diary of when the various utility bills are expected, and phoning them when I think something is due, invariably they say the bill has been sent out. It shouldn't be so hard.
    • He’ll need to apply to building control if he’s removing a chimney breast, as that has to be signed off once the work is done. Make sure the joists for your floor are extended to full width of the room once the chimney breast is removed. Ours weren’t (by the previous owner when they removed the chimney breast in the kitchen) and the floor above was dipping by a few inches.
    • Chimney breast removal definitely requires party wall agreement and if yours above is not being removed it will require steels to support the chimney breast above.  You should consult your own party wall surveyor and serve notices on your neighbour and they will be liable for the cost of your surveyor.  Also worth contacting the southwark building regs inspector for advice as removing a load bearing wall also requires steels to support the walls above and will require building regs. Has your neighbour shown you the plans to show how they are going to support your walls above?
    • I live in a flat. My downstairs neighbour is having various work done including: Chimney breast removal (mine would stay) Internal wall removal (it's a supporting wall and mine is above) Knocking down of external walls that support mine and adding extension. He says his surveyor said this doesn't need a party wall survey because we don't share any party walls. Three surveyors I spoke to said the chimney breasts at a minimum do (party structure). Is there specific law I can quote on this? And if not, what do I do next? (Flats are leasehold, he has permission from them for external work, not sure about internal). He doesn't have council planning consent for the chimney or internal walls.
