Builders required for new kitchen

B&G

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a good local building company to install a kitchen? We need some reliable all-rounders, because the room is in a pretty bad way..! Rad needs removing, room plastering, new windows installed, boiler moving into a different room, underfloor heating put in. Pretty much the works! Would really appreciate a recommendation because we're not really sure where to start.

Many thanks

Hi, I posted a recomendation a few weeks ago as we had this done...

recommendations following our house renovations...

Posted by Dun July 31, 10:19PM

Hi, having just gone through a big house renovation I'd like to pass on some good trademen we have used.

Builders: Valdex; very good, came in on budget and early even tho we added more jobs along the way; happy to show the work they've done for us (gutted and redid 2 bathrooms; replaced water pipes from street all through the house; new boiler; new electrics; underfloor heating on ground floor; moved kitchen from one end of the house to the other.

Bathrooms: Bells on Lordship Lane, fantastic, after looking at CP Hart and 2 others I found Bells were able to supply most items at a good price and quickly! Very helpful and great with all my questions.

Kitchen counter: again Bells on Lordship Lane. They had the best price by far for quartz counters. Again Marc was very helpful & friendly, highly recommend going to them.

Sliding doors: from SKG in Bromley. They were great, friendly, helpful and did great job installing these amazing doors from Sunflex, made in Germany.

Material Plans: tile distributer based in Forest Hill. Very friendly & helpful too with supplying us with gorgeous tiles from Royal Mosa

Porcelanosa: gorgeous tiles from the showroom in Croydon (Purley Way); Gloria was very helpful!

The Natural Wood Floor Company: again another great company, fantastic product and a very good price.

Feel free to message me if you'd like more details but wanted to share this as so many people were so helpful when I was doing all my initial research.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks everyone for loads of brilliant recommendations. I will be contacting quite a few of these! Dun, thanks for info on sliding doors and glazing too - will need to get that sorted and would prefer something local.

Many thanks

    • Yes, I think that’s exactly it. I’m sorry my post was unclear.
    • FH is so much greener and IMO nicer than ED, sorry. Less commercialised.  The Great North Wood, Hornimans Gardens, Brenchley Gardens, One Tree Hill ) yep, some of that borders ED, so split between the two)
    • Tesco sell pudding rice https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/254877391   And as for olive oil, my preference is the Spanish 2L cans in Sainsbury, it has a real nice peppery taste, not bland like the Italian one's I've tasted, but that's personal preference I suppose.
    • It feels like a group who don't believe that private motoring should be discouraged and have no answers to the air quality problem, whereas the original Cleanairdulwich are campaigning to reduce pollution. Sadly we live in a world where if you are rich, you will generally live in nicer houses, have nicer environments and cleaner air.  That is capitalism for you, but I doubt whether there would be greater health equality in the former Soviet Union either.  Dulwich village was once full of industrialists and the like who didn't want to live in polluted central London where most would have made their money.  I will contact Cleanairdulwich and hopefully provide a better perspective.  Whether it is one individual or a whole community I support agree with what they are doing.
