Hob problem - gas taps very hard to turn!

Can anyone advise me please?

Our hob (which was new 18 months ago) - it's a New World one - is gradually getting harder and harder to turn the taps on - one is now impossible to move at all.

What is the answer to this - I imagine get a gas safe engineer to come and sort, or is it possible to DIY?

Sounds like a job for WD40...

That's exactly what I was going to say. Use the little straw attachment to spray it down behind the taps (or knobs as I would have written).
