Alan Medic
I recently had some sash windows repaired and insulated. Just when he finished the job he pointed out to my wife that there is some rot in one of the windows. How do I tell which type it is so I can treat it?Thanks. KidKruger
if you do the research you can deal with a bit of window rot yourself.
Jeremy
Scrape out the loose rotten wood, brush liberally with wood hardener before filling. You can also get resin products, which act as both a penetrating hardener and filler.
Alan Medic
Thanks for the replies. I am hoping to do it myself but I understand wet and dry are treated differently. Hence the original question.
red devil
http://www.timberwise.co.uk/2013/04/identifying-the-differences-between-wet-rot-and-dry-rot/My educated guess would be that external windows are far more likely to suffer from wet rot...
