I've taken Friday off so I can see it all. Where did you get that stat from Mick? I'd have my doubts about it. In the UK it's only on Sky. How many European countries are that interested in it? In the US they'll watch if they're winning. Rest of the world, not sure.
Golf?s biennial festival of partisanship, the Ryder Cup, commences on Friday (26th September) at Gleneagles in Scotland. The event stands alone in the sport in its capacity to attract not only casual golf fans, but viewers who would not spend a single minute watching golf elsewhere in the calendar. In fact, it stands only behind the World Cup and the Olympic Games in terms of television audiences.

Not the same "watching" it on radio. Wonder if any pubs will have it on. Taken day off work so will investigate a bit later.

I was a waiter at Gleneagles years ago. Closest I ever got to the course.

It's nice watching it live on TV - and an excuse to spend all day in the pub :)

Few have played really well so far but it's building up nicely to Sunday's singles. Whatever about the numbers watching I think it makes for the best sporting event to watch which I suppose is helped by having a foot in one camp or the other. Wouldn't surprise me if they were level by tomorrow afternoon.

I'll be back...great afo watching today. Be there again noonish tomorra. Played 8 holes today. Aiming for a full round tomorrow. It's 3.5 to 2.5 isn't it?

Great days golf yesterday but the players found the breeze tricky and today the birdies are absolutely flying in with perfect calm conditions.

Amazing weather for Perth in late September HMB ?. The fans there are getting a real treat.

Poulter the postman is not delivering this morning though and possibly will be rested again for the afternoon, unless Stenson back problems flare up. Rorys on fire as are a number of others. Really warning up nicely.

Ryder Cup BBQ and a few beers may be a good idea tomoz.

    • I personally think is a great idea Bobbly and would love if there was a section for it. I wouldn't offer free gardening under the "for sale" section as I would expect something in exchange and wouldn't expect our cat being looked after for free under the "wanted" section, as an example.

    • I have fond memories of Govinda's I used to go there  back in the 90's (maybe earlier) for an affordable tasty lunch..I was wondering if its still around. Now I have to make a point of going there. Does anyone else remember a really affordable basement cafe run by the church in a street off of Golden Square? parallel to Regent Street? I also used to love the Vegetarian cafe on Neal Street in the basement (Neal Street Cafe?) and there was an inczredible inexpensive authentic Japanese resturant I use to go to with my Japanese friends (who introduced me to it) tucked away behind Long Acre where that brown brick modern building ('modern' I think it went up in the 90's!) now stands that fronts Long Acre and Neal Street..I think it was called Asakasa or something?
    • I wonder where he could be deported to, Hungary the obvious candidate in Europe, perhaps he would get on well with Modi?   Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage both said Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood should look at whether Abd El Fattah's citizenship could be revoked to enable his swift removal from the UK. Farage said in a letter to Mahmood: "It should go without saying that anyone who possesses racist and anti-British views such as those of [Mr Abd El Fattah] should not be allowed into the UK." So just racists views are ok Nige?
