Hi everyone.

I'm new to this forum, this is my first post.

Would someone be kind enough to tell me if they know of any good ways to meet people in or around East Dulwich? I'm new around here. I recently moved to Nunhead from a small town in Surrey and I don't know anyone.

Thanks for reading :)

Hello jacquiba!

This forum is a great place to meet local people; there are regular drinks where everyone is welcome no matter how long they've been in ED/on the forum. There have been new people at every one I've been to, so don't feel that you'd be the only one who didn't know all the others.

Welcome, welcome, welcome!

You have landed in a good place to start... I've met lots of lovely people through this very site. There are book clubs, badminton clubs, curry clubs... and indeed lots of drinking clubs that stem from here. The forum drinks is the best place to start - held the first Friday of every Month. The next one is at Black Cherry on Lordship Lane. We're a friendly bunch and everyone always makes an effort to make new people feel welcome.

Good luck.

The forum drinks are always a good start. Anywhere from 30 - 50 people from the forum meet up, generally the first Friday of the month. Also keep an eye on the "What's On" and activities mentioned in the Lounge such as the Curry Club.

Welcome to ED. The forum is great way to meet people.

erm... can't think of anything else right now.

Definitely have to agree re landing in the right place.. I have met lots of people through this forum and I love the community feel its gives me.. One of the best things we ever did was move to ED and join the forum!!

Definitely come to the drinks, it can be a little daunting not knowing anyone but we will all talk to you no probs!

Alt if you wanted something a little more low key to break you in to it you could come to the curry club tonight..

See you there..

Hi, what's the Facebook group for singles' exact name? I can't find it just putting in East Dulwich and I'd like to join?

Thanks.

Just searched for it... it's the "East Dulwichian Social Group". Quite an old post though, not sure if it's still active!

    • Another shout out for Milk & More - their app allows you to alter the order, add or subtract to it and also to schedule holiday stops without having to leave messages in bottle - so more secure. You do have to set up a direct debit with them, but I haven't had any problems with that myself. I have had one or two missed or late deliveries in several years, but not really a problem - only very occasional and caused mainly by delivery-person illness. And very much feels like an old-fashioned milk delivery. They do special seasonal offers as well. More expensive than the cheapest of the super market milk prices, but for that its at your door, fresh and no bother.
    • Enjoying the nostalgia and memories.  As with others, we get ours through Milk and More (is part of big co, so there is that against it, but it's hardly a secret/niche thing) - returnable glass bottles of milk, orange juice, yoghurt, and much more besides (as per the name). And yes it comes in the middle of the night in an electric vehicle. So can still get out nostalgia fix, doubled when the Riverford chap comes too.
    • This sounds like what goes on at Tessa Jowell GP surgery as well as others.   If you can flag yourself up as a ‘vulnerable’ patient or one that can’t use Apps for whatever reason etc then you can usually make appts by phone. They would have to make allowances. Quote the Equality Act 2010,  reasonable adjustments section.
    • Its part of a change all Doctor surgery's are undergoing.  The goverment want to stop the 8am scramble for an appointment, and its not just restricted to the Gardens. Sadly, it does impact some who are not digitally savy.
