Tomorrow's Muddy Boots children's nature session is all about hibernation. Come and learn which animals hibernate, and help us make a nest fit for a hedgehog! Bring wellies, waterproofs (ideally waterproof trousers too if you have) so you can get stuck in with the wet leaves. Weather is looking good! but we have the barn if there is a shower. But we really want to be outside! And we'll definitely be in the woods for an explore.

Muddy Boots Children's Nature Group is a pre-school group which runs at Devonshire Road Nature Reserve in Forest Hill every Monday and Friday 10-11.30am. Its very hands-on, friendly, relaxed, completely outdoors and aims to let children learn about nature, get grubby, get lots of fresh air and explore at their own pace this lovely wild green space.

Each week we have a nature related activity, digging, watering, a walk in the woods, tree climbing, foraging, listening for wildlife and end up with a story and a snack.

Children any age love the peace of the Reserve and are very welcome. To engage best with the day's more structured activity, I recommend 14m and over.

Its ?6/ child and ?4 for siblings over 13m. Younger siblings are very welcome to come along for free.

For more information, and to let me know if you're coming, either message Holly here or call/text on 07919 077198 or like 'Muddy Boots at Devonshire Road' on facebook to get all session updates.

    • I haven't had a rude EVRI delivery but last week I had an unexpected delivery at 10.42 pm. He didn't ring the bell or knock on the door (or rattle the letter flap) but just took a photo and put the box down.  If it hadnt been for the door camera giving us a beep we would never have known there was a parcel ready to sit there all night.
    • Sorry if I’m being slow but there’s no point in having a gate then is there?  Would have thought it was basic manners to respect someone’s property
    • I didn't say wedge it "slightly" open. I meant to wedge it fully open.
    • I have a rescue Spanish greyhound (galgo) from the charity mentioned above. You can contact Greyhounds in Need or one of the more local Kent greyhound rescue charities. They are fantastic family dogs. They do love walkies 2 or 3 times a day but they actually don't need to be walked too far and then they will happily loaf around on the sofa being very chill. They are brilliant with kids but not recommended if you own a cat as they have a strong prey drive. They also should be kept on the lead in local parks. They prefer to be around other sight-hounds (well my one does) and there are loads of local sighthound owners in Peckham, Crystal Palace etc and a very lively WhatsApp group that is brilliant if you need dog sitting as you can usually find someone to do that for free in return for you looking after the dog at a later date etc.
